PXG 0811XF Driver Gen 1 vs Gen 2

Hi All, I've been searching long and far for a detailed review but there's not too many out there for the XF drivers. Especially gen 1 vs gen 2. I currently game the gen 1 xf irons and I love them. How is the XF driver? How is gen one vs gen 2? Pluggedin gave the gen one xf a really harsh review but others have given it pretty good reviews.

I currently game a M4 and shot shape is generally a fade. So I'm looking at something with more of a draw bias

For what it’s worth, I recently picked up the Gen 1 XF driver and really like it. I picked it up because at the military price point was too good to pass up.

With that said, what I find interesting is you have to be careful with these reviews... notice the reviewer you cite here was very clear that he did think the driver performance justifies the price. I can’t tell you how many PXG reviews include this same statement... something like “other clubs are just as good, at half the price.”

Thats a long way from a reviewer saying they are junk no matter the price... people tend to focus on price too much and it can be mis-leading.

If you’re able to pick one of these up at the current “heroes” pricing... I would jump on it.. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Have to agree with first response...I got one because I couldn't pass on the military offer even though I loved my ping g400 at the time. I am using the pxg driver 75% of the time and only leave it home if I get hooky with it which has only happened a couple of times. It's weird but when it does the g400 brings it back and the pxg is longer and straight. I was originally ordering 0211 irons when I saw how great a deal the drivers were... Glad I took the leap.

I had the PING G400 MAX and wanted to switch to a driver that had similar MOI forgiveness but with better sound and feel.

Gen 2 XF was just what I needed. It is draw bias, so I had to concentrate the weights towards the center. The weights do a lot in shifting ball flight and changing the feel of the head, so it can be fit exactly to your swing.

The XF is also a huge head and gives confidence looking down at address. But it will be harder for those more skilled to shape shots (the least of my worries). definitely low/mid launch + low/mid spinning driver. I usually game a 10.5 loft due to my swing but the Gen 2 9* fit me better. I heard the CG is extremely low + the light carbon crown helps flight the ball higher.

XF is really the most forgiving driver I ever hit. Off center hits suffer minimal loss in distance but it wont cure slices and hooks due to swing.

I used to game the Epic Flash and the XF does fall short distance wise. But I rather be on the fairway than out of bounds 20 yards ahead.

The feel at impact feels like a forged iron instead of a classic tinny driver - super soft when hit in the center. Thats more of a preference but the reason it isn't too popular in the asian market. Asia likes the more louder baseball bat sound over the muted carbon sound.

I also read somewhere that Bob Parsons regrets releasing the Gen 1 drivers too quickly, and the Gen 2 meets his standard.
