Ping G425 closer than we think? (In hand Pics Pg. 16)

I know it's been mentioned elsewhere that G425 has been trademarked by PING for clubs, headcovers, hats, etc., but it's not too clear when that update is coming. With that said I think it's worth noting that the G410 line is nowhere to be found on the GD hot list for 2020, whereas the iBlade is listed. Could be an indicator that an update to the G lineup could be closer than we think, and an iBlade update may not be?

You're attempting to connect some rather disparate dots with a theory. You may be right for all I know. But I'll just say this about the GD Hot List: If it were a newspaper and I was a fish, I'd resent being wrapped in it.

GD sent out a message that Ping G410 and others that were part of 2019 Hot List would not be included on the 2020 Hot List, that it was for new equipment only.

True, not sure why they even bother anymore...I used to look forward to the hot list every year, but it has been worthless for the past 6 or 7 years....there is nothing insightful or unique offered, no testing data shared...

It's not all about distance now-a-days. It's about forgiveness across the face, sound/feel, looks and all around performance. We've been fairly maxed out for quite a while when it comes to gains.

The Hot List / Club Test issues are the most popular ones. Whether in print form, or people going to the web site they drive sales/traffic.

It goes back to the old adage of "no such thing as bad publicity".

If you're checking it out just to complain about it, you're still looking and they're getting to put ads in front of you. Posting a complaint about it still gets flagged as being talked about.

Think the better indicator the G425 is coming is the price drop on the entire G410 lineup. Ordered a 5 wood to go w my G410 driver and hybrids. Struck me a little early to be dropping prices for a Ping line but I wasn't monitoring that closely.

They have to do that in order to stay competitive. Other companies are bringing a new lineup of woods now, so if Ping left their products the same, they'd be "lost" in the mix of the shiny new products. New stuff is coming in Fall.

I find it odd that the G400 series came out in feb 2018 and the G410 series came out in jan 2019....yet we have ZERO info on the G420/G425/G(insert number here).

The reps are more tight lipped these days. If there is any knowledge out there, they're not saying. I've heard of reps being fired if any information is traced back to them. Many companies troll site like this one to make sure information they don't want out isn't leaked. All our rep said was to "possibly" look out for the late summer to early fall timeframe for new woods and hybrids. He didn't commit one way or the other. All I wanted to know if the current adapters would work and he wouldn't even tell me that!
