TecTecTec Ult-X Rangfinder

I've been looking for a rangefinder to replace my Nikon Coolshot 20. I loved the Nikon, but the only problem with it was that it was near impossible to get reading 200 yards or over. It was also tough to get a reading with a busy background such as a tree or mountain. I never felt the need for one with a slope since I've always been good about distance compensation, but figured I'd get one for convenience. I started looking at the Bushnells, which many of my friends use. Was even considering the Garmin Approach Z80, but I wasn't too fond of the optics quality. Then I saw a bunch of reviews on the TecTecTec Ult-X and all of them were pretty positive. They boast an accuracy rate that is better than the Bushnells and the Nikons, but thats not what sold me because that can be BS. Ease of use was my deciding factor so I picked one up to try knowing I had a month to try it out before I can exchange or return it. On the very first hole I played, it was a straight away par 5 and I shot the pin at 535 and it was fairly easy. Throughout the round, as I got more use to it, it was a breeze to use. I compared it on several par 3's with the ones my buddy's were using (Bushnell Tour V4 and a Garmin Approach Z80) and the differences between the distances were extremely small. We're talking .20 -.80 yards, with and without slope. For $249.99 and a $50 coupon I received, I paid a tad over $200 for it and so far, through a few rounds, I'm happy with it. It does take a pretty steady hand for distances over 200, but so most rangefinders. From 20-195, it worked like a charm and it was quick. The case that it comes with is identical to the one that comes with the Bushnell Tour V4, just in yellow and black instead. Definitely one people should look at when they're shopping for a new rangefinder.

As discussed widely on this forum the Laser is just a commodity now, at one time the big players had better technology but eventually tech catches up and its all made in China. For the most part they all grab the flag easily without getting background misreads and instantly display. You can only push laser tech incrementally now so they add on magnets etc. to justify high prices. If you want to overpay for the Bushnell's and add on gadgets of the Industry you can but there are multiple Lasers like the TecTecTec that work great! Glad you like it.
