Best player to never win a tournament on their respective tour?

The best to never win a major has been beaten to death. How about a list of best guys to never win a tournament? Obviously this is a huge grey area, if they've never won on the PGA tour event perhaps they have one on a mini tour or European tour, etc. So let's try and say that whatever their main tour was they never won on it.

Gary McCord. 400 PGA events and no wins.

Bobby Wadkins played 715 times on the PGA Tour and never won. Then he joined the Senior Tour and won in his first start.

He finished second six times including the 1985 Heritage where he lost in a playoff to Bernhard Langer. That was the week after Langer's Masters win and Langer's only regular PGA Tour win.

Bobby won the European Open and the Dunlop Phoenix twice.

Going off of career PGA Tour earnings, both Brian Davis and Briny Baird have over $13 million in earnings without a PGA Tour victory.

 

In terms of perceived talent, I would say both Jeff Overton and Graham DeLaet would top the list of players that most surprise me for not having won given their careers. Overton was a Ryder Cup player in 2010 and DeLaet played on a President's Cup team.

You can't help but to think about Brian Davis who was in a playoff at Hilton Head and called a penalty on himself. Think he's won close to $10M on the PGA tour.

How Montgomerie won so many Euro tour order of merits and not a single PGA tour win is the most baffling donut in sports for me.

Not that baffling. He didn't play that many regular PGA events -- other than majors and WGCs, which are very hard to win, he averaged only about 3 PGA events per year from age 25 to 50. He finished second in majors five times, and even got into a playoff twice, so all he needed was one lucky bounce. But he didn't get it.

Nick Faldo, who was a much better golfer, has only 3 regular PGA wins to go with his six majors.

Ian Garbutt never won on the European Tour. In his day he was a phenomenal player and, in particular, was one of the purest strikers of a ball of his generation.

Mid 80s he showed up to our course which was an Air Force Base in Southern Cal for some event. His alma mater was nearby so must have still had ties to the area. Anyway, he pulled up in one of those 2 door Mercedes Convertibles with a CA plate that read, NO WINS. Dem Californians love their plates to make a statement.

Yes, he primarily plays in the Japanese tour but he has played plenty of US events and everything about this game is awesome: his putting stroke and especially his swing are unbelievably good…

Tommy Fleetwood hasn’t won on the PGA Tour. Correct me if I’m wrong.

That is correct but it’s only in the past two years where he’s split his time evenly between Euro and PGA Tours so it’s hard to say that his respective tour is the PGA. He played 19 events on PGA and Euro in 2019, 18 in both in 2018, and 10 PGA and 24 Euro in 2017. He’s won on the Euro Tour 5 times so I think he’s excluded from the list for now but if he plays more PGA events in the next 5-10 years and doesn’t win then for sure he could be considered

Coming from a guy that has played with him in mini tour events, Brian Davis has to be top name when it comes to mind of best non winner from the PGA Tour. My guess is he's gonna have a great career on the Champions Tour once he gets there.
