Yonex Ezone CB-501 Irons (the undiscovered unicorn)

I've been playing Yonex irons and wedges for quite sometimes always amazed it gets little to no mention here on WRX.... Have gone from original EZONE MB's to N1-CB's to CB-301's and now currently playing their CB-501's which imo are one of best irons for a scratch golfer to a 12 hdcp. Mid topline with very little offset but still offer a ton of feel & forgiveness. Perform well with graphite or steel. Yonex craftsmenship is par or better with all the other JDM offerings. Maybe you guys might consider them going forward, I assure you they are legit and won't disappoint.

I have always thought Yonex irons fly under the radar. Super quality and buttery feel. Problem has always been availability. Hard for peeps to justify the price tag without a chance to be properly fit. BB

Yonex irons are outstanding. Their offerings from blades all the way up to the big chunky SGI are just great performers. Their heads and shafts fly way under the radar.

Shafts for sure. The Nano stuff were legit offerings as a stock option.

The N1-CB and MB were both top of class in the better player category. I like the look of the N1-CB more than the 501-CB but I would like to hit the 501 to see if the Vacuum Heat process really does give them an even better feel.

Update: I went to my favorite JDM dealer and hit the 501CB. That’s a terrific iron, the feel is outstanding!

I have been a huge Yonex fan for years.....started with the forged "TOUR" model years ago...then "V Mass Tour"..... "V Mass 350"......more recently I had a set of the "E Zone Tri G" and just a few weeks ago got a new set of "E Zone GT" with Rexis shafts.

Last 3 sets were/are matched with Yonex woods too.......currently "E Zone Tri G" Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood and hybrid.

Yonex make awesome clubs but somehow still fly under the radar....there isn't even one Yonex dealer in western Canada

Well, for one the web site is like the worst I have ever seen for a major sports equipment company. Not even close to what avid golfers want and expect. Not much there, not interesting, seems like it was designed during the first year of the internet. I could do a simple rewrite on all their content and positively impact their U.S. sales.

The clubs are superb. Well-made, quality materials, really perform. They are not strong marketers for the demands of American consumers. I like those Ezone GTs. Have you seen the Ezone XPG irons? Performs like a super game improvement club but is mid-sized and looks great. Anyone who loves the Mizuno Hot Metals would like these. And the N1-CB is an iron I just think is great. It also is one they produced at the headquarters in Japan.

Thread bump. I have not looked at the CB501 and N1-CB side-by-side (both fantastic irons). Anyone know which head is bigger? I am curious whether the CB501 might be a hair larger (it has lower CG) and might be the more forgiving in the long irons. I am under the impression that the N1-CB is in the middle in terms of size between the smaller CB-301 and the CB-501 but want to know if that is correct.

Yonex’s forged irons are hard to beat. I’ve got the wrong shaft (too heavy) in my N1-CBs and I still love them!

Hi all. Thought I’d drop a comment on here as recently had a set of these custom built. Never thought I’d look at let alone buy a yonex. The cb501 is mint, 10/10 but imperative you have the right shaft. I had mine built by Golf Principles in Basingstoke.

Shaft is the engine. I've got a set of TN87 sitting in the closet because I don't get on with the Modus 120 in them. That and the leading edge doesn't agree with my steepish impact angle. Yonex are definitely a sleeper iron. They make all sorts of great rackets over here in Japan. And, if their clothes ever fit my gargantuan 5'10 inch 180 lbs frame, I'd say they make nice sports wear too.

I played Yonex forged way back when Phil was on staff with them. Buttery smooth as I recall. Glad you're liking the new model.
