Mavrick pro irons

If you are in the market for some players distance irons these are pretty nice. For a club that is not forged they feel decently soft. On top of that, the ball rockets off the face.

the stock shaft will be too light for many that would like this club. The vss pro 105 shafts while being somewhat nice because the dampen vibration is just too light for me.

they are similar size And shape as the AP2/T100 irons as a reference.

I'm surprised how nice they look from address. Are they really low spin? Im always confused by callaway irons... They have so many offerings and I feel like it becomes hard to see where they all fit in.

They are pretty low spin. That is something I forgot to mention. The 7 was spinning at around 5300. But remember that is also relative to loft. These are a bit strong lofted.

the peak heights and decent angle we’re still solid though.

I haven't looked, so forgive my laziness but what's the loft? 31? Even at 31 or so, I'd still probably want to see 5800 or something on a monitor.

Yeah with offset, it seems less than apex and maybe even apex pro. Are these less expensive than epic pro?

The 7 iron is 30.5. The epic pros were really expensive. These are less coming in around $128/club.

 

pretty interesting tech story going on inside the head. The have what the call microsphere which is just callaway for speedfoam. Which is just fancy rubber made by 3M. They say it is the only polymer that does not reduce speed at impact.

also, they have a variable COG with tungsten inside the head to move cog lower in long irons and higher in short irons. Nothing really new there. Others have and do do that.

Not bad on pricing... Sounds like a fancier/techy version of apex pro but with more of a louder look.

What iron shaft do you play in your gamers?

it looks like the x is 109g, so a bit heavier. How did it play to flex, seem soft?

i can get a deal on these, but shaft options suck from callaway

I am playing cobra king forged irons. They have KBS $ taper 130x flex shafts.

Did the elevate play true to flex? Did you demo with s or x?

I tried the S. I would say yes it is true to flex. I was just not a fan of it.

IMO the elevate tour is better than the standard elevate

I don't know how they compare to the rogue pro. I can take a sole picture later. Possibly, I have not tried that shaft.

I have read some solid reviews on the XP 105, just wish it was a little heavier than 101g, the LZ 105 6.0 is 106 I think, probably pass on the standard Elevate, probably going to order today

was maybe thinking about soft stepping the KBs tour-v 120 since that is a free upgrade. Are you looking for more spin?

Yes, more launch and spin. I considered the V, and FLT, but never really liked the regular KBs Tour, but did lik C-taper, so not sure

This was my first thought. How do these two stack up across the board? I bought and sold an Apex Pro 6 iron because I just didn’t hit it consistently well and never clicked with it and/or the Elevate shaft. Don’t like Apex. Also tested Epic Pro and found the sound at impact annoying. Rogue Pro is underrated IMO and I like the look of Mavrik Pro a little more. Let’s get Michael Newton or Crossfield and Crew over in the UK to do the matchup!

I have played rogue pro for almost 2 years and have no complaints. These have me intrigued tho.

In the above pic they look to have very little offset,but on the website the address pic shows a lot more and the specs list the offset as quite a bit when compared to other distance players irons. And all the heavier shaft options s are at an upcharge. Back to the p790 or Cobra King Forged Tec

The shaft thing could be mitigated by getting a used set off eBay and installing yourself (one of the easiest club building things you can do). I'm going to my local PGATSS today and maybe they will have them, I'll see if I Can snap my own pics and maybe even hit them.

Yes, not really sure why I was drawn in and ordered a set blind. I play 919T, have not played anything other than Mizuno irons since 54’s, but couldn’t stop thinking about them, never even played a callaway iron, not my normal shaft either.

Too much time reading on here and a bloated PP account is dangerous.

Like many on here, these have my attention. Usually I’m a forged snob, but these look pretty timeless and full of tech, that said I really wanted rogue pros last year as well. Just hard to imagine not playing forged.....
