Cape Cod Clubs You Can Get Into?

Hi all,

Don’t think this has been discussed recently... are there any private clubs on the cape that are open to regular joe new members? Preferably no further than Chatham - have been looking in the Falmouth area in particular.

I’d look into Pocasset. Don’t think you just show up with a check, but you don’t need to know 5+ guys either. I think it’s a very underrated course

I played Pocasset two years ago during Massachusetts Golf Association’s Member Day. It is a great course, very well kept. It’s also very accessible, relatively close after passing over the bridge.

I asked about membership and was brought to a person who was in charge of membership. I was immediately handed a packet and told I could apply right away and they would manage the process of references, etc. The gentlemen I discussed this with made me feel wanted. But then again, I am nice guy . . . ;-)

I ultimately didn’t join though I wanted to. Our beach house is in Wareham and so chose not to have to deal with the bridges. I joined Reservation Golf in Mattapoisett instead.

Any other suggestions? Would ideally like to have the club and a beach vacational/rental property in close proximity.

Broad Perspective on Cape Private Golf that is purely my opinion. Might have missed a club or two, or mid characterized some. Maybe OH or WH belongs in super exclusive or Cummaquid in Moderately exclusive. Ridge Club probably belongs in real estate section, but I left it here

New SeaburyOcean EdgeCape Cod National WillowbendAs far as close to vacation rental / beach - It really depends. I’d pick a town / area first and then settle on a golf course. New Seabury has 36 holes so if you like that area and buy a place, getting in there is straight forward. Good courses, close to beach, etc. plus, Willowbend is right there as well

Let’s say you love Osterville - you’ll eventually be able to meet enough people at OH or Wianno to join. In the meantime, you can join Old Barney and Hyannis.

if you love Falmouth, pocasset and Sacconesset aren’t too far, plus there are a bunch of public and semi-private places to join (cape club, Falmouth, Brookside, etc). I

the only one that is tougher is Eastward Ho! You could move to Chatham and never crack that nut!

(you did ask for specific feedback on sacconnesset - I’ve never played it - sorry)

I have a friend that is a member at Woods Hole so have played there a few times always in great shape although some of the members seem stuffy so I get MMG saying somewhat exclusive

Pocasset great course...….Very busy.....not a huge fan of how it's run. just my .02 I guess it really depends on what you're looking for? just play on weekends, practice facility, etc. lots of great options on the cape.
