So are you saying the small WB lettering on the crown was for Ian woosnam only? I have a pretty good size collection of 14 wood brothers with one WB engraved on the crown. Going to email some photos to Dave wood to get some additional insight on these clubs. Have a few with WB engraved on the back

The small lettering I refer to for Ian Woosnan was his name engraved parallel to the clubface, instead of from face to back, like the flying WB on many clubs. It was a custom order, which Woosie requested on all his woods, no matter the make. I have 6 or 7 Woosie Maruman woods with the same small lettering.

 

The flying WB on the crown with Wood Bros script on the sole was the original standard engraving. The script on the earliest WB clubs was Dave Wood’s own hand writing - hand engraved. Later stamps were used to speed club building.

 

Many custom order customers and Tour pros preferred a bland crown, which became a custom option.

 

With growing popularity, Dave Wood hit upon the idea of the flying WB on the back of the head , where it could be seen from the rear when the club was in address position,

Mine continues to grow also, having reached a couple of hundred WB clubs.

Dave Wood continues to work on his Wood Bros history and plans to eventually publish a coffee table company history.

I know there was some interest last year in a wood Brothers / persimmon weekend golf gala. Perhaps we could get one or multiple events set up for 2020. Possible event sites: Dallas July 9-11, Monterey Peninsula April 4-6, Seattle Labor Day weekend, or any other suggestions from anyone? What do you all think?

Based on the one that just sold recently on eBay: Charlie Wood made extemely few AT2000 clubs as he was asked by brother Dave to discontinue using trademarked Wood Bros name. 

I do not believe these garner the same attention and have the same worth as the Texans, all Americans etc...

hey guys - I purchased this mid 80s Texan about a year ago and Dave was kind enough to restore/rebuild for me

Outstanding grain, outstanding restoration! Love the driver. Looks like a Super Eye-O-Matic. Dave is simply the best at doing this!

Notice no loft on sole plate as with other Tour Issued clubs.

This black finish is the same as on my Eye-O-Matic firing pin model made originally for Seve.

Dave made other models similar to the USA model Texan, including examples with with a US map, a Louisiana map, and a map of Japan on the sole. A Masters edition was made with a US map and flag in a hole at Augusta.

Texan with green and white fiber, Oil Hardened Spanish, Texan with EOM 60 aluminum bullseye insert.

An interesting older Texan. 11deg with X200 shaft. Not your average setup and I love the carbon spot!

Cool….and the loft with red paint fill also isn’t common.   Older model with WB on the crown.  Is this a new pick up for you?

Not a new find, just one in the quiver that I have had since the 90s. Have about 20 WB persimmons, some typical, some custom for pros of the day, some custom for me!

Another cool one custom made with a Hogan-type "Speedslot". Can't remember which pro ordered it originally, and I believe was refinished by WB before 2000

I really like the head-toe shape and the face on that speed slot Texan.. cool looking Texan for sure and nice refinish.  Also , just by looking at the wood in the face, I can tell this one has a super solid feel when you hit it... Awesome

Here is a very early Wood Bros Texan I acquired a few months ago.  Its a real treasure and in original mint condition. The grain is spectacular and has a great head shape, very much like an early 50s Mac M85 or 693.  The insert is White/Grey/White, which is a rare combo. WB was not able to use many inserts like this because the gray was in short supply from Japan.

Really happy to add this one to the bag. I've been looking for some time for a rarer model Wood Bros driver, i.e. Australian, All-Japan, Masters and I feel like this Jumbo LFF fits the bill. Gamed but not abused, as they say "tools not jewels".
