I am biased as a member of BCCC, but I find it much better than the Moors. The final 3 holes at the Moors ruin the course and conditioning has fallen off in recent years with membership declines.

Just stumbled onto Arcadia rates for 2020. All of April is $90. Assuming we try to go late April, does anyone know if it’s still a great experience at that time? It’s a bucket list course for me that if I can still get a solid experience for $90 bucks I would love to do.

Its all going to depend on the weather. The course will be fine. but it might be 30 degrees and and 25mph winds. We took our trip there in late may and it was still pretty cold one day. It looks like its $130 through the end of may, i would probably roll with that.

They discount the early season rates for a reason up there. It depends on the year, but northern MI courses often aren’t able to open until mid to late April. That early, right on the lake, there’s a very good chance you’ll be playing in some nasty cold/wind. I’m not sure what their cancellation policy is, but if you have some flexibility and can cancel if the weather sucks, it probably doesn’t hurt to play it by ear, and maybe you’ll luck out and find a nice early spring day.

Awesome course, one of the toughest tests of golf I have ever encountered. You better be accurate or your are gonna have a long day. Enjoy the round.

It is still fun to play, but the tall grass is just starting to grow and doesn't look as good as it does in the summer and fall.

I might be inclined to drive up to the South course at Arcadia in April. Stay off the water.

Thanks for all of the tips on Arcadia. I think we will wait till at least May for the Bluffs and I will look into the South as a possible April alternative. I was much more confident on April play before the weather for this past week came in...

Hey guys I'm gonna play Arcadia in the fall. Likely will play Hemlock as well. Looking for one more course to play in the area (not Manistee national or the South course). Suggestions? Green fee needs to be $80 or less. Traveling from Grand Rapids so if it's on the way back that would be ok too.

LOL yes, we both somehow missed that key detail despite sending 50 emails back and forth during the process. Ari is awesome though. He's building me a new set in LH for free and I'm going to give the RH set to my son when he's old enough.

Thoroughbred used to be a pretty good track. Not sure what kind of shape it's in nowadays.

Ever been to http://www.manisteegolfandcc.com/ It's not Manistee National but it's a old course right on the Dunes overlooking Lake Michigan. It's definitely nothing "special" but it's pretty old school in the sense that it's not super long and the tee boxes are tucked up against the greens. It's fairly cheap and you get some awesome views. Great spot for a warm up round that won't break the bank but still have a great time.

i played the exact same thing a couple years ago. Enjoy man, its a pretty unreal experience. i wasnt as familiar with spyglass as i was with pebble beach from tv. spyglass is special. the first whole my be my favorite whole in golf. Are you taking any caddys?

I doubt we'll take caddies. The times I've taken one, I've never felt particularly comfortable. I'll probably look at course tours about 500 times between now and when we go, so I feel like I'll know my way around pretty well

I am starting to plan another Scotland Trip.

Yeah, I'm definitely planning to walk all 3 rounds. Now I need to become best friends with someone who could get us out to Cypress Point, and it would be the trip of a lifetime! Not that it won't be awesome already, because we're planning to bookend it by spending some time in L.A. beforehand and a few days in Napa/Sonoma afterward.

It’s nice to have friends like that, my buddy went out there and wanted to play Riviera and had a tee time after one phone call. He’s my best bet to get on Augusta. We’re talking about a stay and play at Oakmont this summer.

I've gone to the Genesis at Riviera 4 times (not this year), and I'd kill to get on there (Same with LACC or Bel-Air, etc). Going to the tournament again is part of what we're planning for the L.A. part of the trip. Oakmont would be amazing. I've been fortunate to play at a couple of fancy clubs (Muirfield Village, Conway Farms, Kirtland CC) through contacts at work, but those opportunities don't come up very often, unfortunately.

I noticed you scribbled out a key part. Care to share about how much a trip like this would cost me? My friends all have real jobs so it's likely I'll bucket list that solo. I'll just throw out a 4000 dollars a guy. Over under please? Lol

Also curious if you don't mind sharing an approximate number. I'm going to guess that my trip to Scotland was less expensive than a trip to the Monterrey Peninsula would be.
