Thoughts on the Class of 2022 (Girls)

I was at the Annika junior golf tournament with my wife and walked the course to see some of the girls play.

I saw a few girls that I watched that looked really good. Paris Hilinski, Alexa Pano, Amari Avery and Bennetta from Italy.

I thought Hilinski looked the best of them all, the 50 colleges coaches following her and watching her round reminded me of Jerry Macquire and after seeing her swing speed, Ball striking and size I told my wife that she will be number one in the world sooner than later.

The best Junior Girl's Class top to bottom in some time. It is loaded.

Aren't those coaches wasting their time? I'd be floored if she doesn't just turn pro.

Yes they are... ages are current / wins are 2019 season.

So happy to see Amari Avery is still playing. I thought for sure she would've quit by now.

 

Hopefully, Dad has knock off that BS shown in trophy kids.

I would imagine she turns pro. After watching her play she has all the physical tools.

Amari Avery we saw as well. Her dad and I’m guessing sister were walking watching and he seem like a real jerk towards her. I never saw trophy kids. I heard it was Brutal.

i would imagine they are and especially after I was just DM’d and told she has only played for less than 3 years. That’s amazing.

Yes that’s what I have heard. I never followed junior golf until watching that event. That class, especially the Hilinski girl really stuck out to me.

Yup, she just needs to find a way to win more. I hear the family is loaded, which always helps. Also already has support from Nike.

No idea about being loaded, I had zero clue about her or any junior golfers before that event. I did see Jordan and Nike everything on her and stuff I have never seen before. There seemed to be a high level Nike executive and Taylormade person there specifically for her. My wife commented on how she looked like a pro golfer already. On her needing to win more. I would agree and I did look up that she had only played 12 career events in her life and those events are the best pro and amateur events in the world. It shows she has played two junior events 1 win in TX and 1 3rd place j Annika (she was tied with the lead starting on 10. The girl that won deserved it, but chipped in and putted a 100 footer from off the green in). Her Amateur finishes are mostly top 10’s. Honestly I expected to be underwhelmed, but she I would pay to watch play golf.

My son has played with Cash (her little brother). and I overheard this last time we were playing with him and his buddy, "next time you guys go to Pebble we can take my dad's plane".

And? your point is the girl has a wealthy family? I actually didn’t think about that at all when I watched her play. She didn’t have anyone hit the golf ball for her. Lol.

I just watched her play golf and some other girls that my wife and I thought were very good.

Yup. They fly everywhere private and are in with DJ and the Gretzkys somehow. Best of luck to her out there.

Yea surprising she is still playing but still is too young to make her own choice, her dad was very mentally abusive to her in Trophy kids, total nutball. Made her middle name tigeress or something crazy. He thinks he was acting like Tigers dad but couldn't be farther from the truth, tigers dad was a master encourager and mental coach to Tiger. This guy is just breaking his daughter down repeatedly. I guess he got a lot of backlash over that and decided to try changing, who knows if he did or not.

Our paths cross every once in a while. He's no worse or better (now) than every other dad I run across.

Just started following Her IG and saw she almost won a 3 day pro tournament somewhere in Florida. Guess that answer’s my college question.

Amari is a few years younger than my kid and would see him a few times a year. The stories I could tell.

I didn’t see him for a few years, then about year and half ago, my kid was paired with her for an 18 hole event and he was almost okay. Much better than before but still acting a bit of a fool and relaying stuff from the cart path. I don’t know why, it was an event he could’ve caddied, but her sister looped for her.

She does hit it pretty far, 15 yards past my kid (who is older) and my kid has always been relatively long.

Sadly, they're so many more just like him out there (so many). They're just local to us or maybe within the junior circuits.

That’s sad to hear. Amari seems like she can be a good player. Short in height and not as accurate or at least wasn’t that tournament on the few holes we did see. Seemed like most of the people out there watching were following Hilinski’s group or at least all of college coaches in attendance were so my wife and I ventured out that way to watch her group.

My daughter just played with Paris in first two rounds at the Annika and she was the best player we have ever played with in AJGA or junior golf. I felt like my daughter had no chance against her do to her length. She was 50-60 yards or more off the tee longer and accurate. Her Dad seemed very nice, just watched her and encouraged her throughout. If she develops her putting and short game she will be a very good good pro. We had a good experience. Not sure what the trophy kids things. I can’t imagine her dad acting like that, but you never know I guess.

The trophy dad is Amari Avery dad not Paris’. Yes we were there and remember your daughter. She did great and will be just fine. I agree if Paris’ putts better she would have been -5/6 under each round or more. Good luck with your daughter.

Makes much more sense. I thought that would be strange seeing Paris’ dad was so nice to his daughter and encouraging.
