Hit a few with the Maverick pro and it's nice, similar to my Apex although slightly lower spin. It's just too shiny, too much glare for me.

I never understand the anti slice narrative. I’ve played irons with big offset and closed face. If I slice, no equipment will save me.

The Pro looks nice. A thinner top line would make it better IMO.

Anyone else try Mavrik pro vs 790? felt like the pros didn't feel as good as 790, didn't have the chance to hit them both on trackman but lofts are pretty similar (except 9/pw) but wonder how else has hit both. Toplines look pretty much the same to me, as well as offset.

I have been playing the apex line for a couple of years (16 for two years and last year the 19). Recently got the 2019 P790s and have about 5-7 rounds in with them. Reason being purely cosmetic... Hit the apex well and they check all of the performance boxes but I just don’t like the way they look especially in the long irons. For me the P790’s look 100% better but we’re a disaster for me. Significant gap between 7-8 and even tried to bend the short irons strong to close the distance gaps. The soles are wider and must not fit my steeper swing so they have been written off at this point. bummed because they are beautiful irons and know they work for many others.

Yesterday I tested the 7 iron Mavrik Pro out on the range and compared to my Apex 19s. To me they looked better, felt better (subjective), launched higher and seemed longer (no launch monitor data). I plan on dumping the P790s and trying the Mavrik Pros

Just got my Mavrik Max irons from UPS today. With the size of the heads, I should never mishit a ball again...

I did get fitted into these, and actually like the size of the head as a high handicapper, gives me confidence.

I noticed you can order these 2 degrees weak......That would make the wedge 45. I wonder if that would be a good move, or would it be better to order a gap wedge and play the GW as a pitching wedge and the pitching wedge as a 9 iron.

I almost went weak, but did not want to increase bounce, will just try as is with MD5 48/53/58.

I saw your wedges on the other thread...….Good looking clubs...….I never considered these clubs till I saw this thread......I am an oddball....if I tried them, I would order with s300's.

I'm just about a club longer through most of the bag with the Mav Pros. I think the Mav Pro 5 iron is longer than my old 2016 Apex Pro 4 iron, but as I get to the bottom of the bag, it's not quite 1 for 1. I dropped the 4 iron and threw in the set AW. I've always played 4-PW and then went with a 52, 56, 60. But, I've always had a bit of a larger gap from PW to 52.

I think the set AW will fill a nice hole that I've always had, while the PW will get me "almost" my old 9 iron distance.

Initially, I thought I was spinning these too low as well. But, as I've worked to get rid of my winter rust, I'm seeing similar spin, still a little lower, but more ball speed.

In the end, they gap pretty well and I'm covered pretty evenly from a slightly greater range.

What were you playing before? Are the Mav Pros more forgiving or just straighter? Does the ai face seem to have a real positive effect?

I was playing the 2016 Apex Pro. I am finding these want to turn over a little easier, which is fine by me. I wouldnt say that they're draw biased or anything. But, they are easier for me to shape left. Can still move them right as well. But, this is all just indoors. They seem to be more forgiving just outside the center on the toe side.

Yep, liked em , but sold to a buddy that had no set and was in love with them

i will most likely order another set. They launched higher, spun more, more carry and felt decent enough, look solid, good price.

I am not sure about being my main set, but something fun to take out.

I heard these are really punishing on miss hits, like not that forgiving and loosing a whole club on toe hits. Is this true to you or didn’t you get enough time in with them. This was coming from a i500 player.

I've been playing i500, and in the fitting found these easier to hit. And more solid feeling. And definitely longer.

Curious why the Mavrik Pro and Mavrik max both have weaker lofts than the regular Mavrik. It makes sense that the pro model would but why the max, anyone know?

Max is designed around being the most forgiving out of the lineup. Standard is the longest. Pro is the more compact option.
