Yeah, I heard Brian Katrek on PGA TOUR radio saying he was testing Mavrik and was getting spin over 3000 with the MAX vs 2400 with standard Mavrik. I think the three heads do deliver noticeably different spin rates. Of course loft can dial that in.

Great comments....especially regarding spin rates. The mav standard gave me 2400-2500 sr which Im hearing is optimal.

I hate that the MAV fairway woods are not adjustable. Was hoping to pop my shaft in to try it. Stock shafts are good but I wanted to compare apples to apples.

FYI - Never saw the Flash for less than $300 on CPO. Thats for the best conditioned club. Maybe a club in lesser shape cost less. Not calling anyone a liar but for the price you're saying, I would have bought one there and then. Ive been watching since December........

I bought the exact same 5 wood as you, same shaft, for the same price. Hit it indoors, going to like it a lot, distance and launch were perfect for my swing.

The correct answer is to get fit. But at least I can share my personal fitting experience from just the past couple weeks with a trackman at 2nd Swing golf here in Minnesota.

I played a Rogue SZ at 8* with a Fuji Pro 62X shaft. I consistently carried it around 260, spinning around 1900, club head speed of 103 (peaked at 105), ball speed of 154, launching at 13. Certainly all good numbers.

Mavrik SZ, 10.5*, Tour AD XC 7S shaft. Carry went up to 267, spinning at 2200, club head speed up to 106 (peaked at 110), ball speed up to 157, launching at 16. Much better numbers and the dispersion was much better too.

I hated the Epic Flash SZ head. Sound was high. Didn't like the way it sat by the ball. Didn't like anything about it really. (I'm also a Vikings fan so the Packers colors assuredly played a sub-conscious bias too). However, I LOVED the 5W and got fit into that.

Lastly, my buddy has the Epic Flash SZ driver and 3 W. Hates the driver. Hates it. The 3W - it will never, ever, leave his bag.
