Cobra F9 driver destroyed!

Okay, so just wonering if anyone else had experienced structural weakness to this extent!? Admittedly the shot was quite near the toe, but even so… that's crazy. Waiting on a response from Cobra UK - hopefully they'll sort it.

So gutted, as I just switched out the stock shaft and put my old trusty Ozik Code6 shaft in there, playing at 43.5" - and it was going amazingly.

Obviously not from hitting a golf ball, clearly too much damage on tip of toe from being smashed on pavement.

Yeah - funny thing is, I didn't notice at first (dark in the SIM)), and so hit another shot which only made it worse.

A friend of mine caved in the face of his F9 and Cobra replaced, it.

Wow, thats something. I'm curious about all those scuff marks/scratches on the front of the crown above the toe, most visible in the third pic on the right. How did all those abrasions get there?

Honestly if you told me that you laid the driver down on the ground with the toe up and dropped a loaded bookcase on it, I wouldn't bat an eye. If this is legit, I hope Cobra doesn't turn you down for what looks like a helluva lot more than a toe impact.

Just looking at the pictures (esp. the 3rd one) and you could have a Father, a Judge and Boris Johnson say the damage was legit and I would have a hard time believing them. But, the only thing that matters is what Cobra will say.

There are no abrasions of any note - the weirdness bottom right is just the lacquer lifting off the carbon crown. Anyhow - I wasn't asking anyone to believe me or not - just wondered if anyone had a similar experience.

The breaks do not show normal or catastrophic failure due to normal play. If there was a single crack line I could see it. But multiple crack lines on different plains does not seem possible from simple bad contact anywhere near the face. The fact that there is a significant amount of "fraying" in the carbon fiber material also says a lot. It is very unlikely that that type of "fraying" could be caused by any lateral force from the face.

I've owned an F9 for 7-8 months and no issues yet. However I'll let you know what happens when/if i miss the sweet spot

Largely agree. The fact that the damage appears to all be caving in is also suspect. If there was truly this sort of failure, i'd expect the broken pieces to be pushed outwards not inwards.

As others have noted, it looks way more than just striking a ball high on the toe.

OP did add he didn't see it at first (was dark in the sim) and hit another shot, which 'could' explain the further damage were seeing.

Very keen to hear the outcome. Hope the OP gives us an update when he hears from Cobra... ??

when you say you hit the shot near the toe, by shot you mean cinder block wall, right?

and what do you mean there’s no abrasions on the crown? They’re as plain as day in the original pictures AND the subsequent closeup.

the only way this club looks like that after hitting a ball is if it already looked like that before hitting the ball.

Omg! This isnt a joke? What's the huge hole in the toe and the smashed in looking top from? I've broken several clubs over the yrs more than 6 and never even after hitting post crack/damage has a club come within 1000 miles of looking like this... cobra shouldn't cover a drunken anger rage from a bad session because that's likely what happened.

You realize of course that you don't hit the ball with the carbon side of the driver, right?
