Love seeing the Scotty that he won his US Open title with. I can't imagine he will end up using one of those hideous Truss Putters. He did have a lot of success with his Black Spider putter, surprised that's not back in play.

They probably have different hot melt placements, different head weights. Just dialing it in. Probbaly different tipping. Lots of things to test

I'm pretty sure that is correct, that club hasn't changed in ages. There was an article recently about DJ's driver tinkering and the gist was basically that he knows when his swing feels like it should be producing his stock cut and if it is not, then he switches to something different. It would surprise me if DJ knew all the little tech nuances, so I suspect he just comes to the TM van saying "this one isn't cutting like it should, make me one with more/less cut" or something like that. Then they likely mess with internal weighting/face angle/loft/shaft tipping to find the right combo for him on that particular day. If it were me, i'd be keeping notebooks of what has and has not worked in the past and have a bunch of "DJ presets" so if he comes in wanting more cut, I know "ok i'm gonna try 1/2" more shaft tipping and 5g hotmelt in the toe, and if it still isn't cutting then i'll pick a head that specs with higher loft and crank it down a notch to open the face" etc etc. Those guys are pros so i'm sure they have that dialed in. Yeah DJ has long played with more loft than you would expect because of his wild impact position. He hits up on the ball while still having his hands forward presenting less loft.

The Hi-Toe used on tour has a raw face and this is what they look like. There's a bit more "texture" to the face than there is on the retail ones. The retail model also has a gray face, but it's a nickel finish rather than being raw.

Interview with Trottie and he stated that the Truss putter was designed with DJ in mind. He likes the look of a blade style but putts better with the forgiveness of the spider.

That has to be true for so many people. I want to do more than just look at my Scottys, but that stupid ugly black spider just can’t get out of my bag. It’s just too easy to putt with. I can have bad reads, bad speed...but never a bad stroke with that thing.

Something that was cool was that he spoke about how a different color putter headcover that doesn’t match the bag really throws him off.

I like how when asked if he had to choose between mallet and blade that the subtext of his response was totally "Ugh...mallet. I totally prefer a blade but I can't argue that the mallet works better".

He's just too loose and slow with his stroke. He needs faster tempo (look at his full swing) and a shorter through stroke.

He'd putt like a champ if he did that. Look at how spieth, j Thomas, and now rory putt...

Doubt they are different, I mean they are small blades at retail. These aren’t like the various cavity backs they have sold over the years that need tour only versions with less offset and thinner top lines

To my eyes his aim always looks way way way off. I can't believe no one has ever been able to teach him how to aim prior to a put....he stroke also looks like he should be using a more Face Balanced Putter.
