Need help shallowing

I've been trying to keep my right elbow in front and with external rotation but I'm not even sure if I'm doing what im supposed to be doing. Any help appreciated

Yeah that seems to be a consistent miss either a pull, or a snap hook most days. Never really hit a left to right ball.

Drop your hands down to your right hip pocket to start the downswing, then turn and hit the ball. The steepness of the shaft is not the problem.

@Foozie22 You look like two totally different players well done! The first swing resembles my own when I'm not swinging well. It looks like your were getting way laid off at the top and from that position you have to steepen in transition to hit the ball. I'd bet you fought off pulls and smother/snap hooks all day long, especially with the longer clubs. Would love to hear what changes you made.

Knees look a little too far back like you are setting up a little on the heels. Looks like left knee moves a little too far toward the ball and would have to see front view but it might be moving too far right as well.

Hips are just barely moving closer to the ball during backswing and downswing bu you do a good job of clearing the left hip.

Just gonna say not sure if the terms I use are correct, or if I'm even doing what it feels like I'm doing. I tried to be less closed with the clubface at the top, I think I'm cupping slightly but I'll work on that. Then tried to swing more around my body as opposed to upright, I feel like I can come into the slot better when my swing feels like flatter. I might collapse my right arm a little early on the backswing but I feel like I'm in better positions than my first video. My heads dropping a ton in the downswing too, which cant be a good thing and I dont know why it is. Sorry if this doesnt shine light on anything. Not really at the skill level or have the eye some guys do. I just worked on some of the things the previous posters thought would work.

Looks like trying to feel cupped stopped the over-rotation of the left forearm and excessive wrists bowing. I think we are working on the same things. I try and feel like I'm swinging way across the line like Johnny Ruiz and it puts my arms and wrists in a much more neutral position. How's the ball flight?

How is my hip turn in the backswing on the second video? I don't know if it's an issue. I was wondering if it's to flat, or if it's not deep enough. Sorry to bring up an old thread, just trying to clean some things up.

My misses seem to be pushes or slight hooks. If I make decent enough contact or do something right that I dont know about it's a nice draw. Still really inconsistent I'd say for every two I hit well one goes awry. Distances havent changed much.

Your takeaway is really solid. However, trying to shallow can become tricky if you don't understand the causation. It needs to happen naturally with proper footwork and lower body transition. Since you already have a very solid takeaway. Try this....

 

1.) It seems you flattened your takeaway quite a bit from the 1st video. Maybe it's not as much as it looks due to the different camera angles. Anyway.....

 

2.) When you are at the top of your backswing, focus on your lower body getting more active and your upper body more passive. A great thought is to start the downswing by pulling your left knee/leg towards the target. Basically allow the club to just follow where your lower body takes you. Another thing to add to this thought is to make sure grip pressure is consistently light throughout the swing. Proper shallowing is near impossible with improper grip pressure.

Here's the latest swings, I'm starting to take a few online lessons, just waiting to get better video more stable videos to send in. Hopefully working long term with an instructor even just online can help me some with my full swing. Just checking in to see if I'm progressing some or regressing before to you guys.
