St George itinerary: opinions welcome!

First time to St George. Have read a massive amount from RSinSG and others and put together the below. Before we lock it in.... any opinions or suggested changes?

.

.

**_Stay:_** (we want walking distance to the best food/drink options, so thinking stay on the main st)

. . **BW Coral Hills** (unless BW Travel Inn or something else is better??)

.

.

**_Play:_** (we will try for 36 per day... are we better to switch courses or does the below look right?)

. . Day 1 arrive: **SunRiver** (prefer forgiving 1st up, and ideally on the way from Las Vegas/not past St George)

. . Day 2: **Coral Canyon** + replay

. . Day 3: **Ledges**+ replay

. . Day 4: **Sand Hollow** + replay

. . Day 5: **Sunbrook** (Pointe/Woodbridge or should we look at a different course?)

. . Day 6 depart: **Wolf Creek** on our way back to Las Vegas

.

.

**_Eating options:_**

. . **Georges Corner**

. . **Angilicas Mex Grill**

. . **Painted Pony**

. . **Bella Maries Pizza**

. . **Anasazi Steak House**

.

.

**_Drinking options:_**

. . **One and Only**

. . What else is walking distance???

.

.

Thanks all!

Matty

You might check out Coyote Springs for the Day 1 drive up. Wolf Creek is perfect for Day 6...saving the best golf experience until last.

Interested in this as well as we're headed up in a couple weeks and Coral Canyon was on the itinerary. Sounds like we need a backup plan.

Here is the debrief:

Great trip... but it was freezing when we were there. Literally solid blocks of ice on the greens at one course. We ended up changing itinerary and going south to Las Vegas to get 6-7F warmer. Lucky we did.. on those days St George was in the 20's F !!

First up... a TON of thanks to RSinSG. Fantastic advice and a real shame the weather prevented us from getting together and playing.

In terms of courses:

Ledges: excellent course, staff and facilities. Also the coolest apparel, which is not really something I usually care about, but the Ledges gear is awesome! Conditions were great, and the layout was something you could play many times. All good holes and just an excellent all-round course.

Coral Canyon: not good. Greens were a mess, and there was construction/digging/machinery all over the place.

Sand Hollow: amazing experience. Unique course and really good conditions. We both put it on our "top 5 ever" list. Helped that it was a touch warmer that day (36F) and we played a little later due to the frost. Imagine it would be tough in the wind being elevated/cliff edge on the back 9. Fantastic experience, a must play IMO.

Sky Mountain: incredible driving range/view/etc.. but didnt love it. Was windy/really tough, was slow play, and lots of the holes were average at best. On a still day if you get out in the first few tee times... sure, otherwise not so much (all this based on 1 round... maybe a little harsh!)

Falcon Ridge/Wolf Creek: didnt get to play either due to the cold/moving south.

Paiute in North Las Vegas: this is where we went to get a few degrees warmer. 3 x 18 hole courses... all of them excellent IMO. Really enjoyed them, very good conditions, great layout/hole design (some ppl said 2 of the courses are very similar - I thought the hole design was interesting, scenic, good enough that it didnt matter and I didnt really notice). Also good food, and the courses seemed to space out well and absorb ppl. They also do great deals on reply+playing back-to-back days. Of the courses.. Wolf probably best, but as I said all excellent IMO. Wolf also a little tougher, but very fair/all in front of you.

The Palmer in Mesquite: played it on the way in as a warmup round. Good for that purpose.. pretty easy, nice enough, resort style course. Not in the same league as Ledges/Sand/Paiute.. but for sure better than Coral Canyon and I thought more enjoyable than Sky Mountain (though conditions were perfect ay Palmers and brutal at Sky)

Best greens: Sand Hollow, then Paiute, then Ledges.

Worst greens: Coral Canyon.. pitted everywhere.

Best scenery: Sand Hollow, then Paiute, then Ledges

Credit for being a great all-rounder/just a nice place to spend the day and play 36: The Ledges

Great part of the world... absolutely beautiful scenery and nice ppl across the board. To do it again.. we would prioritize: Ledges, Sand Hollow, Wolf Creek, Falcon Ridge, Paiute. Admittedly all spaced out.. but if you are flying in/out of Vegas it can work.

Thanks again Ron for your help putting together the itinerary!

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier as I live in the area and could've saved you the wasted $$ and time from playing the Coral Cyn. dog track.....IT'S A MESS!For a much better bang for your buck you could've included GreenSpring,I play there all the time and the course is in probably the best shape ever, except for the area around the tee boxes on #10 and #16 where they're in the process of expanding the driving range.PLUS a new Marriott hotel just opened right next to the golf course.

And you're right about Sandhollow, one of the nicest tracks in So.Utah....BUT in the spring of next year a brand new course in Hurricane will be opening called Copper Rock and it looks awesome!http://www.crgolfcourse.com/

Just played Copper Rock Weds.and it's one bad ass/tough layout, way better than Sandhollow.....some of the fastest/largest greens you'll ever play.Still a LOT of construction going on,new clubhouse is being built and the new carts just arrived the day we played, didn't get to use them though. They plan on opening the week of the Parade of Homes, which starts Feb.14.
