PGA Tour Live coverage

I know this thread probably won’t last long, but I need to rant.

 

The coverage so far this year is no different than tv. It is becoming way too produced. I loved it when it was one or two cameras on an “obscure” group, and very little talk.

 

I tune in today, and guess who I see?

 

Can they not show him enough on Golf Channel?? Am I the only one that feels this way? I would think not. That, plus all the talk makes me think I might as well watch Golf Channel (or not). I would think not many casual fans buy PGA Tour Live, and those that do want to see what they can’t on the regular coverage.

 

I realize I might be in the minority, but I don’t see myself renewing the subscription if this keeps up. I didn’t start this discussion to cause a war, and it will probably be locked, but this is a golf discussion board, and I need to vent, knowing there is a chance I will get trashed by the responses.

I like the groupings, but paying money for commercials...it does feel like TV.

The only reason people buy this is to watch Tiger at work on their phone. The casual golf fan doesn't care about obscure players.

There's a lot of truth to this statement. I pay for it so I can stream it at work and early morning weekend coverage before it the TV coverage starts. I don't care what groups they show because I really like watching golf. I really like watching Tiger play, so this morning is a bonus for me.

I just signed up today... I'm not thrilled with Tiger TV. But I paid for it so I can have something to watch at my desk while working

I got it for the opposite reason, now I might as well be watching Golf Channel.

 

As as I said in the original post, I can’t imagine many casual fans buying it in the first place.

Is anyone able to switch to the other featured groups (Spieth, Fowler, et al)?? When I toggle to the "PM" groups, its the same coverage with Tiger and Rory's groups.

Other than that stupid social media interruption it seems to be no different than last year. I’m seeing Tiger’s group and Rory’s group. It’s not a general coverage thing. Looks like Rory must have had Finau’s butterscotch pants cut down so he could wear them.

 

Anyway, I’m not having a different experience than last year and I assume the same coverage although on Amazon Prime we get the leaderboard and ocean sounds while the NBC Gold folks apparently get ads?

100% agree..... i don't care as much as which group they cover, or if they are covering tiger.... i just want different camera angles and a less produced version. yes, i hate the over produced tv coverage. hire some local kid to carry a handheld camera, give him inside the ropes access, and let the kids capture the golf. i'd take this any day over the tower down closeups of the green while a player putts and cameraman following the ball through the sky.

I stopped my NBC Gold sub because it felt like it was at least 50% commercials. Non stop marketing thrown at you or just in general bad coverage. I honestly don't even bother watching much golf on TV now even, I'll watch highlights on youtube. I'll still tune in for Majors but otherwise televised golf is becoming a joke.

its early round coverage you would not see on tv and the access they have to tiger is better than most other networks so I would play that advantage if I were them too

 

I like golf tv , I also switch to the broadcast (sky if I can get it ) when network coverage hits.

I admit I only buy it to watch early rounds and if Tiger is playing. I usually DVR the telecasted round and watch later. I can definitely see you point if you could care less about Tiger or the featured groups. It's only $65 for the year, pretty cheap, basically a round of golf.

Having it on at work I find it gets to be like music and today the only shots I saw were when someone came in my office and interrupted what I was working on at the time, lol. 4-5 holes played and didn’t notice a thing.

Solution - going home for lunch tomorrow and staying home!

I agree that PGA Tour Live has gone WAY away from its original format. I didn't renew PGA because there's too many commercials and I also got rid of The Golf Channel for the same reason.

I enjoyed the web.com coverage except for the fact they constantly tell you “How close blank is to the PGA tour” “ He’s knocking on the door” “Almost to the big time” ... geez just call the golf.

“Blank was so close to winning” “Blank years since blank won” “He won this thing 87 years ago”...

id like if they had a Low Round Crew, hops on the cart when someone Is 3 birdies deep, to follow their great round.

also Amazon + Smart TV + PGA Tour live = Great Experience (except they just erased all last years tourneys :( )

have to agree. i find myself questioning why I even watch golf on tv anymore, and i watch anything golf related. I find myself watching solely on dvr, but constantly FF as we have ads throughout the live play for pga app, fed ex, etc, then we get thrown to the 'playing through' ads, and then cut to commercials. its nonstop and showing actual golf shots seems no longer be the priority.

Tiger has been in every single PGA Tour Live Coverage, when he's playing, since I started it way back last year. It's not new friend.

Revisiting my old thread. I’ve had the coverage on for 15 minutes, and haven’t seen a single shot, but have gotten to see every highlight of guess who? I might as well be watching Golf Channel.

 

Im in the process of cancelling my suvscription, and trying to find the appropriate place to complain. I know it won’t do any good, but will make me feel better.
