My Goodwood Experience and Comparison against others (Piretti, Scotty, Byron)

Finally got my Goodwood Putter and wanted to share my experience and comparison against a few other putters to maybe help some of you guys decide what to do! So I contacted Goodwood on Instagram about a putter and he had somebody that backed out because they thought the putters were stainless so fortunate for me I got in ahead of the next builds in March I believe. Pleasure to work with, very accommodating to requests and will literally do anything as long as his name is in the cavity which I did not have a problem with. For the price of an OTR Scotty from your big box store you can get a fully custom newport or newport 2 style, even believe he has a mallet style now as well for a limited time. I went with the G7 (anser/newport style) head, upside down Goodwood stamp in cavity, blank bumpers and sole, standard face milling, black kbs shaft and black iomic grip. Couldn't be happier the way it looks!

 

Now for the comparison against my favorites! Carbon steel are my favorites so I was already excited. Hit several putts with it indoors and felt great. Pulled out the Piretti Potenza that has been my main gamer for 3 years or so. Piretti and Goodwood felt identical! Very impressed! Pulled out next my other favorite, Scotty asian circa and felt like butter, just like my Piretti and Goodwood! Thoroughly impressed! Piretti was a little cheaper since it was just an OTR with nothing custom but for the price of the Goodwood for a fully custom putter it is a great deal imo! Definitely will get some bag time this year depending on green speeds right in the middle of my light (330g circa & 375g potenza) at 350g just has to split time with the asian circa.

 

I would recommend Goodwood to anybody looking for a custom putter at a fair price! Who knows I may buy another later this year! Any questions or more photos you want to see feel free to ask! Enjoy the photos.....

Very nice. Enjoy??. Am I correct in saying that the GW top line is chiselled on either side to make it look thinner? Not seen that before outside of a roll top. Excellent.

Yes he likes a thinner top line and yes it is basically a roll top! Looks really clean imo

My Goodwood experience was phenomenal as well! I recently purchased a long neck and could not be happier.

I went with the G7 Anser/Newport style as well but I had a long neck welded on.

I was rotating between a Tad Moore Giraffe, Mizuno Bettinardi C01, and occasionally Scotty Cameron Circa 62 No 2&3...

The feel of the Goodwood is exactly what you would expect from carbon steel, very soft. I went with a smooth face and I love the way it sounds and feels.

The weight of the putter is also something that I really enjoy. In the past I would put lead tape on my putter to get the weight where I wanted it but this long neck came out to 357g of headweight so I was very pleased with that as well.

As Luke said - I HIGHLY recommend Goodwood as well to anyone looking for a custom putter at an affordable price... As his slogan says - "Made to Be Played".

Good looking putter as well man!! Yes the feel is just as you would expect for a nice soft carbon putter! I also see you like the circas as well! Some of the best feeling carbons out there in my book!

I ended up getting a G7 with an oil torched finish. The customer-oriented order experience with Goodwood is top notch and second to none. I only have one other blade so I can only compare it to the one I have, but it’s not carbon it’s GSS. The balance and weighting on the Goodwood are equal to the TP Mills. The feel/sound are better on the TP Mills. The Goodwood excels with long-range putting, as expected from the great balance/weighting. Another thing I want to emphasize is how good the finish looks in person under some sunlight. This company really knows how to torch and oil metal. Am I satisfied with my Goodwood purchase? Yes. Will I use my Goodwood this season? Yup. If you want more info, message me.
