Golf Fitting on Long Island

Who would you recommend to get fitted for clubs?

Who would you recommend to get fitted for clubs on Long Island? And what kind of services to they provide?

My recommendation would be Pete's Golf Shop in Mineola. They have the technology to fit every club in you bag, including your putter.

Also recommend Pete's.. I got fitted there a couple months back, went smoothly and I couldn't be happier with my clubs now.

Pete's for sure...I don't believe there's an overall better fitter on LI. A bit pricey at $125 for either woods or irons (but not both) and they don't apply the fitting fee towards a purchase, but well worth it...especially if you want to try all various brands and combos.

For specifically Titleist fittings, I highly recommend James Hong at Harbor Links. He is extremely knowledgeable about Titleist equipment as well as the golf swing, is NOT a salesman at all, and a very good swing instructor too. And the fitting fees are very reasonable ($50 for a basic fitting and $75 for a full fitting). Though the website says the fitting fees are credited towards a purchase in the pro shop, that is no longer the case now.

Pete's on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola - without a doubt. And they're really nice if you need a box for a golf club to ship.

Without question Pete's. He's the best.

As for James Hong, I take lessons from him and have for 3 years. He is also capable of giving you a very good fitting and he has several carts. If Pete's didn't exist, I would go to James. Pete's is really, really good. He got me started and I keep going back to him when I think I'm ready to move up a notch or so in skill and want to upgrade my equipment. No sales pressure whatsoever.

Does James run you through the launch monitor etc? I ask as I've never seen any equip outside.

As others have said, Pete's Golf in Jericho Turnpike. Prices are a bit high, but they will answer all your questions and do their best to make whatever u have fit u if possible.

I think James brings all the high-tech doodads outside to the lesson tee as needed these days. And, as an obvious plus, his fittings take place outside (one important ingredient Pete's Golf Shop in Mineola doesn't offer, AFAIK).

Full disclosure; I take lessons from Forrest Hamlin, James Hong's staffmate @ Harbor Links; great guys & awesome teachers. And I practice all the time in the last bay next to the lesson tee, soaking up the vibe. I should be there now!

bumping an ole thread, thinking about checking them out as i am from long island. Anybody have recent experience with them?

I'm considering doing the same as well. Only thing I'm hesitating about is hitting indoors on the simulator. I know the simulators are great, but I don't think there is a substitute for an outdoor fitting where you can see the ball flight.

No experience with them but there is a cool clubs up above Greenwich and another place novo golf across the Hudson below nyack. Both outdoor and pretty much look like they offer the best fitting and custom build service around.

Reviving this older thread to see if anyone has recommendations for an outdoor fitting, preferably off grass. Hear a lot about Pete’s, but I don’t see how you can get an accurate iron fitting hitting if mats indoors.

Done a driver fitting at club champion in Syosset and went well. Hit into a screen but you're on Trackman. Pretty sure True Spec is coming back to Ferry Point this year which would give you a premium fitter outdoors on Trackman. Give them a ring or shoot them an email to confirm though.
