Ping i59

I have been waiting for the next i blade / i210 iron set, but as of today i'm ending 30 years of mainly Ping loyalty and moving to another brand.

Ping UK and their complete lack of interest in hitting any sort of non-std spec for non tour / elite plays and their customer service department who just try to fob you off with responses like 'we are a mass production manufacturer and it can't be expected for us to pick heads for lightest weight as that would involve our tour department etc etc' have finally done me in.

I refuse to put myself through the hassle of wondering if the set of irons I'm going to get are going to come in at d4 /d5 (as it wouldn't be unreasonable to request at my lengths) or E1-E2 as the last set came in at. The thought of the phone calls etc again to get them sorted have put me off.

I accept this seems to be a Ping UK issue as the US don't seem to have the same problems. My 2020 £2k is going elsewhere!

Absolutely. Just mentioned 2ndSwing because their site is still taking custom orders on iBlade's which proves (unless they dropped ball updating site) iBlade custom still available.

One of the posts above says new iBlade replacement not slated for months or next year. If that is true, just doesn't make sense Ping would cut out custom iBlade options now.

Do they make you pay to send them back? Or do they cover the shipping since they got it wrong? What did you ask for and what did they come at?

Good luck, likely will still be wrong. I’ve come to realize you get what you pay for from Ping Clubworks. Crazy how bad they are at their jobs.

Really? They’ve always been spot on for me. Try getting taylormade or Callaway to build you something to spec.

Nome of them are good, but Ping is at least affordable for how bad they are.

In all of my experiences with incorrectly built Ping custom orders (have had more than a handful), they cover shipping both ways (as they should when they err). My request/order receipt have 3-9 at D1/PW at D2; they purposefully built 3-9 at D0/PW at D2. The first few irons I took out of the box felt light so I put them on the Auditor digital swing weight scale, which confirmed my suspicion. Subsequent to I fished the build tags out of the shipping box and saw that they simply erred as respects the transposing of the build information at some point in their process (though they built to the incorrectly transposed specification relatively accurately).

Unfortunately I am quite familiar with their incompetence: https://forums.golfwrx.com/discussion/1707362/ping-custom-order-poor-experience#latesthttps://forums.golfwrx.com/discussion/1788956/more-ping-fun#latest

Annoying that they do not make available certain parts for their clubs (e.g. CTPs, certain club weights, etc.) and insist that they do all club work.

Preceding this iBlade order (i.e. a few weeks ago) I had custom ordered some wedges (both red dot) and one came red dot and the other black dot...

They’ll fix it if they build it wrong. Just aggravating to have to call them, box them up, drive to FedEx, and then further wait.

In fairness when I shipped back the black dot wedge that should have been red dot, Ping let some other Ping clubs of mine hitch the ride to AZ for some services I already had scheduled (some of which they didn’t charge me for). That said, I’d rather just pay for what I want and in return receive that which I requested (/paid for).

Maybe, maybe not. The specs on their website are targets for their stock shaft offerings. I’m also not 100% sure of their build steps/process. Regardless, I always provide them the exact specs desired so as to avoid any confusion and/or [their] potential claims of ignorance. One quarter inch off should be one swing weight point though. They got the PW correct... My guess is that someone typo’d a “0” instead of a “1” on their keyboard when inputting my order (purely speculation).

And while I could fix any of their errors myself (as I have the tools, parts (well not the CTPs, but hosel and shaft tip weights), and knowledge), that’s not what I paid for.

In my experience, they are really bad at adjustments in loft and lie, but the worst at hitting a particular swing weight. I cared about the whole on file warranty thing, but now my local club builder does anything Ping I have and I just change the dot colors myself. I love their clubs (gaming a G410+ and iBlades), but their club work is a joke.

Would love to, what do you know about the iBlade 2.0 or i59 we don't?

I’ve had several sets all come in perfect with progressive swing weights and loft lie. Even always have my customers check on their own.

Edit: I always have them built by the wrx department so that may make a difference.
