Can anyone explain why Scotty Cameron won't allow a shipment to Canada? I tried to place a custom order with Discount Dan's and due to my location, SC would not allow them to ship to Canada per DD's explanation.

I have no actual info... but I suspect their contract with Titlist doesn't allow this, likely because Titlist has distributors in Canada already that they want you to use.

Finally picked up a Newport 2 today. I rolled it against my current gamer - an old Select. This is Scotty's best release since the black mist Selects. This is a really good putter.

 

Looks - It's much better in person than I anticipated. The pewter color, the dots, etc. It looks really good. The name on the face isn't as bad as I thought, and you can't see it at address.The shape - It's a scalpel. This thing is one of the sleekest heads I've ever had. Love the short face, love the hosel, the fine milling details. The asymmetrical bumpers don't bother me as much as I anticipated. It's shaped very similar to an old Anser 2, but the weighting is better (of course).Grip - It's pretty nice to be honest. Compared to my Ping blackout it's pretty large, and I lose some feel because of it. Some of you Super Stroke guys are probably laughing. I'll be putting on a skinny Ping grip soon.Headcover - Looks pretty good. I'll be using a stealth cover anyway. Makes one thirsty for Budweiser.How does the serial number system work on these? Mine's 0646852. Overall this is a very nice putter and a good value for the money. I expect Scotty/Titleist to sell a million of these. Next evolution I'd like to see a dark color, reduced graphics, a more pronounced tri-sole and slightly deeper milling.

As a "Super Stroke" (Pistol GT 1.0) guy I am laughing a ton... although I will say I actually kind of like the grip as well!

A bit slimmer than I'm used to now but I appreciate that it doesn't get that narrow at the bottom and so I've actually decided to give it a go for a while instead of telling them to just include it loose and not even bother to install it for me.

I tried a Super Stroke on my Select once, took it off almost immediately. It muted the sound and feel of the putter way too much. Using a Matador on my Special now. Pleased it doesn't alter sound and feel.

Did you go with the regular size Matador or medium/large?

I tried all three sizes on my putter. Had been using Pingman grip for years. The small felt just fine. Using the medium now, fills out the hand a little more. The large was too much. Note I don’t use tape to put on grips, I use rubber cement. A friend of mine who played on the tour in the early 80’s told me about using rubber cement. He said rubber cement transmits feel better than tape, tape mutes the feel a bit.

If you want to do the rubber cement method let me know and I will describe process.

I'm going to order a custom Newport a bit heavier but trying to get the same grip I had in my 2017 Squareback that is black with silver lettering. Looking at my options when ordering I think it would be the Cameron Matador grip but I'm not sure.

 

Is that the same one as what I have in my current putter? There are also Black/Red or Red options are these all the same?

Is the stock grip in the 2017 Squareback the reg or midsize?

What are the weights for the reg and midsize Matador compared to the stock grip on the new line?

Coat inside of grip using straight stick or coat hanger. Use brush to coat length of grip. Slip grip on. Align grip - To align I use seam on back of grip and the serial number on shaft. Once lined up I put a ruler on its edge on the seam to make sure its straight. Then I use the lines on my floor. Line up sight lime with line on floor. Without moving the head raise grip end top to same line, visual check.

Same grip as before on new putter? With the changes made to the Special, most notably, the weight reduction in the head itself and the increased weight In the removable weights. This changed the dynamics of the putter. So expect the feel to be different with your preferred grip.

I really like mill marks and there were no noticeable mill marks on the NP, NP2, and Squareback 2 models I looked at today at Pro Golf in Tacoma, Washington. The Del Mar had mill marks off the shoulders and on the sole.

Had the Special NP2 on the course for the first time today. I'm always an Indian not arrow type guy, but the NP2 was excellent. I made everything inside six feet and a couple bombs. Lately I have not been putting this well. There is a nice flow and forgiveness to this putter. Kudos to Scotty and team.

I got my Newport 2 at the Tacoma Pro Golf, too. It has mill marks. Suggest you put on your reading glasses. They are very subtle, but they are everywhere.

You can use Studio weights in the Special. I changed mine to 20’s.

FWIW, I customed mine with a Pistolero Plus. The thicker grip helps a lot, also the dancing Cameron just looks way better imo

This pretty much confirms there are multiple mill houses doing these putters. That milling in the weight ports makes the other drilled holes style look rudimentary.
