Got a great deal on a brand new pair of Vokey SM7's with black shaft and BV shaft band that I couldnt pass up from a fellow member on BST. The whole back is going to have that Johnny Cash look.

With the upcoming work and life changes I’ve come to realize I won’t have as much practice time as I’d like so I’m going the forgiving route and giving these a go. PING G410’s 5-UW Project X LZ 120 6.0. Look good and felt good on the LM going to have them in their maiden round on Sunday

G410 5w cranked to 16.5” to play as a 4W with the Tour 75 Stiff. May put a Tensei Pro White 70 in it but we’ll see how the Tour shaft does tomorrow

How did your P790 numbers compare to the G419’s? Those are two irons I am closely looking at purchasing. Thanks

Numbers are very similar with the exception of the 5 and 6 irons I was able to launch then a lot higher than the 790 4-6 irons. P790s were great but the G410’s just want to go straight and are way less punishing on off center hits. Plus if you’re budget conscious can’t go wrong with the price of the 410s and they will last you quite a while as most PING clubs do

Went and tested a bunch of wedges and wanted something a little more forgiving. Got the Cleveland CBX2 54 with 12 degrees of bounce and 58 “full face” with 10 degrees of bounce. Love the shape of the Full Face CBX2 much better looking than the Hi-Toe in that regard.

CBX wedges were awesome today playing alongside @TIM929 . Super pumped on these. Very forgiving and my chipping didn’t let me down today for once.

Since most courses are closed or restricted to walking only decided to get a push cart. Got a good deal on TGW.

So figured since I have been cooped up in the house lately I’d give myself a putting comp to see which will be my gamer and which will be my backup when the courses open back up. I have a 7’ PuttOUT mat with the PuttOUT pressure trainer at the end in my office to do the test on

I have four putters for the test including the one I have been gaming for a little bit:

Due to the thick carpet I have there is a 1-2 cup break after you get within 1-2’ of the hole for measure. Since I don’t have a physical hole for the ball to drop into I’m going to count how many attempts it takes to get the perfect putt into the pressure trainer out of 20 tries from each distance 1,2,3,4,5,6 ft from the hole.

 

I’m going to take the best percentage of makes and tally it up at the end. Four putters will be used, I’ll start with all four the dwindle down to 3 and then the final two best performing will be my gamer and backup respectively. So far in the first round as follows:

 

T-1st : Toulon LV, Odyssey Jailbird & BB1F (11.7%)

4th: Bettinardi BB1F

 

.....all tied for first will move on to the next round.

 

NOTES:

 

The BB1F had good short distance but anything over 2’ to 4’ resulted in no perfect putts. This is the putter I have been using for some timeThe Las Vegas was very surprising as it is a very stable putter and felt no deviation in the putting stroke whatsoever. Jailbird Mini was also good but felt that if I was on a long green that had more break I would need to manipulate the clubhead a little more.The Studio Stock #8 is soooooo soft. Love the feeling of this putter. The Plumbers Neck really caters to my swing (slight arc) and should’ve stuck with this hosel type with the 2020 Bettinardi line. Great weight to it but will most likely change the grip as it is enormous and not a fan of it.

On to the next round where the LV, Jailbird Mini and Studio Stock 8 will duke it out!

SECOND ROUND of putter testing. Here are the results:

 

1st - Bettinardi Studio Stock #8 (12.5%)

2nd - Las Vegas H7 (11.7%)

3rd - Odyssey Jailbird Mini S (9.2%)

 

The Jailbird Mini S is out the SS8 and Las Vegas will go up against each other to see who gets the top spot or backup.

 

NOTES:

Jailbird could not get a consistent feel on distance controlBettinardi was good with distance control and direction Las Vegas felt the best in terms of stroke and pace direction was just fractions off as a couple putts hit the center of the PuttOUT pressure trainer and trickled down

I may after the final round of testing is done with these putters try them using Left Hand Low. I used Left Hand Low for about 9 months when I had the Spider X putter and putt well with it just couldnt get distance control down. Now dont know if that was down to the putter insert or me but I will do a test with all four putters again using the LHL grip.

Super excited about the results! First round that I get on when the courses open up is going to bag the Toulon and the Bettinardi Studio Stock #8 will go the next round after that! Fun little experiment and we’ll see how it goes out on the course!

Took the Las Vegas on it’s maiden voyage today playing a very hot Los Serranos Golf Course. Greens there were very SLOW. But hit quite a few good 10+ft putts within a foot or two and 1 three putt for the round. The club has really nice balance too it, but I’m not sold on the SL shaft just yet. Going to give it a go next weekend and see how it fairs if my next round at a different course has better greens. The following round will put the Studio Stock #8 out there and see how it goes

Just got this Bettinardi Inovai Hexperimental Windy City Wizard in finally and ready for the weekend!

Took the newly received Bettinardi Hexperimental and put it against the LV on my PuttOUT mat and pressure trainer like previous tests and was surprised by the results. For a couple times prior to starting the test I couldn’t really get a feel for the Bettinardi but after a couple practice putts things started to click. Really nice feeling putter with good balance to it. It’s not benching my LV just yet but we’ll see how the on course testing goes this weekend. I warmed up using both putters to make it equal at 40 putts a piece and same rules as the last test but didn’t test from 1’. 20 attempts to get the perfect putt aka stay in the pressure trainer from intervals of 1’ from 2’ to 6’.
