Tips for playing in cold, rain and windy conditions @ Bandon?

All of the above are great suggestions. The following also helped me during cold, wet rounds:

an extra pair of rain gloves. The first pair will be soaked by the end of 9, and having a warm, dry pair to start the back 9 was a nice touchMake sure to let your clubs air dry out of the bag over night . I left mine in the bag one night, and the grips were still wet the next morning the club grips will be wet the whole round, but I did my best to keep my putter grip dry. It may have been psychological, but that was one club I wanted to hold dryembrace it, and bring glove warmers, extra towels and zip lock bags, as mentioned by otherenjoy!

I’ll be new to Oregon coast golf. Suggestions for wedges? High or low bounce ? Wet packed sand would mean low bounce for me

but...PB and Paso sand was heavy and soft

The sand in the bunkers is coast beach sand, not the granulated sugar style. Very fine, grey and heavy, even when dry. You'll need at least one high-bounce wedge. Approach shots from the fairways are off very tight fescue lies. Low-bounce for those, though I prefer the chippy 8 or 9 irons for running up shots from <100 yds.

 

There's a good bunker in the short game section of the practice area. Take a few wedges and try each one and see which one you are most comfortable hitting out of the sand and off the turf. Tap a few down for a deep buried bunker lie, because the chances are good you'll need to handle that situation. One could spend a couple hours in that short game area alone...
