Wilson V6 tour versus MP20 hmb????

Hey I am a 10 handicap player and need some help deciding between the Wilson V6 tour irons versus the MP20 HMB....both feel great but which one will be the better iron to choose?

Very different clubs.

The V6 is a genuine players cavity with traditional lofts. It’s forgiving for what it is, but Is built for spin and workability. I still have my V4s... they compare with AP2 or MP20MMC, not the HMBs.

The HMBs are definitively player distance irons. They look like blades, but blades they are not. Strong lofts, built for straight speed and distance. More forgiving than the V6 I’d presume, certainly felt that way on demo. Much much lower spin. Compares to the AP3/T200/TMB, P790, and the likes.

Which for a 10 cap? It totally depends on what your game needs.

Is iron play a strength and you try to work and flight the ball? Then V6...

Is iron play a weakness and you need a straight shot? Then HMB...

Need spin to hold greens? V6...

Need more distance? HMB...

Balling on a budget? V6...

Struggle to hit long irons? HMB...

They are really different options... and maybe you should be looking at a blended set if you are answering yes to many of the questions.

always been a straight blade player. using the HMBs now and they are not as powered for distance as suggested above. they certainly play longer than a standard club but not by a huge amount as you will see in the p790 or the cobra tec 2020 irons. I do like mine a lot however they are not "normal" clubs in the sense that certain shots are a struggle, the little finesse shots , punch shots for some reason do not come off consistently well with these irons but i had no problem doing that with blades. I will hit a 9 iron 150-155 yards in but can't finesse flight the 9 iron easily for 130 low and rising, or just punched low for 140 etc. just comes off dead sometimes and way short...So for full shots, no issues. none...the best through the set.

Very different clubs but I’d say if you’re a 10 cap trying to go lower why not try the V6? A great, Tour proven iron that is more forgiving than many think. If you cannot handle them, could always go to the HMB. Or C300 Forged or D7 Forged.

The long irons will be what determines it for you.

100% transparency, the short irons in the V6 will be superior. They will flight lower with significantly more spin and have more consistent distances. I had the V4s, the short irons were fantastic (about equal to my AP2 short irons, which are 2 years newer).

The long irons on the Wilsons are great for what they are, but they are relatively demanding. I’m talking the 4-5, and maybe 6 irons specifically. They are much easier to work, not as long, flight lower, and spin more than irons like the HMB/TMB (I have the TMB).

I found the V4 long irons much easier to badly miss right or left when my swing was off. I could hit a big draw/hook with a swing that the TMB would keep pretty straight.

Look at a combo set. Maybe HMBs 3-6/7, MMC 8-W

Wilson equivalent would be C300 or D7 forged 4-6/7 and V6 7/8-PW
