Here’s the EI Chart. Compared to DF, the D Ltd looks to have a stiffer butt section, firmer mid section and a hair firmer tip. The EI Chart makes the D Ltd look like it has more pronounced hinges or bend points.

Have to agree with you here. The $150 MSRP price jump must be due to popularity alone. There are no stated material differences between this and the previous generation. I can't imagine ION plating warrants this kind of price jump.

So no real difference from the D+ Limited Edition other than added weight classes to fit the limited profiles in the D+.

Some of the weights are 1-2g different and some of the torques are .1-.2 different, might be slightly different or has to do with the finish or newer machines measuring etc.

RANT ALERT

$500 MSRP is absolutely ridiculous!! The Diamana line has been a stock shaft for multiple OEMs since it's introduction many years ago... now they want to slap some fancy paint on it and up-charge $400. These are the kinds of marketing/ business decisions that I hope put manufacturers out of business. I can understand high prices for new "lines" that may have very high R&D costs/time, expensive/new materials, high manufacturing/ start-up cost, etc. BUT What about this shaft has changed from previous iterations? I've been a LONG time D+ fanboy, gamed exclusively until the HZRDUS SMOKE line, and have been anxiously awaiting a new generation to test but this is just pisses me off.

Which manufacturer do we have to thank for the introduction of the ridiculously overpriced aftermarket shaft?

In reality, I would guess the street price will be in the $400ish (maybe a touch lower) range vs. $300 for the TX model of the previous generation.

 

While it may not end up costing the consumer $500, I still have yet to hear any details on tech, materials, etc. that differentiate this shaft from the previous generation aside from a shiny paint job.

Looks like Tour Spec Golf is asking $450 for the D Ltd. For me, and probably many others swinging driver 90-100 mph, the addition of SR in the 50G and 60G models is awesome!

I just put this into play for my round yesterday (probably my last round due to Covid-19) and it is freaking insane. I have never had a whiteboard before and have recently really getting into all the offerings of Mitsubishi. I have been through a Tensei Pro White for driver and a couple Kuro Kages in woods.

I hit 13/14 fairways and was carrying the ball into places I don't usually. I am up for more testing, but hope the honeymoon period settles and this shaft is still amazing!

Titleist had multiple model years where the diamana was stock. The limiteds in the 917 were not the -2g models. they are same as the aftermarket ones. Just not the TX flex. The 62/72/82 diamana plus was in the 913 and there was a 2015 plus version - silver shaft - that was in the 915. It was the Ahina, Kai'li year where they had made for Versions in the 910 models (Which still found their way into pros' bags so they weren't bad shafts).

They are completely new and made for as far as I know. I've tried it in the SIM fw. It's not bad. It's not aftermarket but it's decent

Just got a D+ Limited 70g for my G410 5W and it is money. Compliments my Pro White 60 in Driver and Pro White 70 in 3W very similarly

Interested in this shaft and played the DF most of last year, but struggled a little with a two way miss with it. Still think the OG whiteboard is one of the best shafts EVVVEERRRR! Have been tinkering with the Ventus Black lately, anyone have any thoughts on how the D limited my compare to the VB? I've seen a few people on the VB thread starting to mention that the Black has some counterbalance to it, I wasn't aware of that though and doesn't feel overly counterbalanced.

When I asked MCA about the SIM driver and fariway (Limited FW 75) they replied...

"The Diamana S Limited that is featured in the TaylorMade SIM offering is in fact the same shaft that we offer in the aftermarket. The Diamana FW is going to use Dialed Pitch Fiber in the butt section, much like the 2nd Gen S Plus. Both shafts are also Mid Launch. Obviously the Diamana FW is designed to be built in a fairway wood, therefore it is made shorter. If you find success with the 2nd Gen S Plus, I would imagine the Diamana FW offering would work quite nicely!"

I haven't seen the Diamana Limited FW 75 in their catalog for aftermarket. Seems like its made for SIM fairways. I bet its a great 3 wood shaft. Would love to see how it compares to a trimmed Diamana S+ Limited 70 2nd Gen. Good grief!

I have tested it in 3 wood when hitting at a local golf shop and it is pretty good. Not a bad “made for” shaft!

I would have. Played 9 holes with the new SIM Max TI Rocket with a Tour AD DI Black 7x and it is so good! The sound is freaking amazing.

These EI charts are impossible to compare across product lines. The only good they do is give you a sense inside of each segment how they compare to each other(can compare 4th generations against each other like this with no real data but can’t compare them to other diamana, Tensei, or KK). we can’t say it has a slightly stiffer tip than DF, we don’t know what value on the y-axis any of those shafts really end. Even worse is looking at these ei charts and then thinking we can go to Fujikura and compare these charts to their Ventus charts and accurately assess profile comparisons. And at what flex, some shafts have different ei curves at different flexes! Rogue white 130 comes to mind...the TX ei curve in the white looks like the rogue silver...in all other flexes the curve is a classic blue profile like the Aldila tour blue.

i personally feel like these golf shaft companies should have to release full product specs, actual ei data, actual balance points, bend points, actual frequency numbers. No more of this “R, S, X, TX” crap. No more of this High, Mid, Low bend point stuff. High, mid, low spin tells you nothing. The torque numbers now don’t tell you anything either, the materials they use now allow them to play numbers to optimize feel. Torque is put into stiffer shafts to give them feel...you know how many people won’t look at the diamana df because the torque numbers are higher then traditional whiteboard profiles AND the fact that it says Mid-high for the balance point instead of high? There is so much misinformation, All folks have is the limited information that these shaft companies provide and then and making decisions without all the variables. For example, the Ventus Red launches probably a degree, and spins probably 300 rpms more than the Ventus blue. Do you realize how many people won’t even look at it because it says mid-high launch and mid spin.

 

as a consumer, we have a right to know more about what we purchase than these shaft companies allow us
