New Taylormade MG2 Grinds?

have heard rumors of an ATV or 4 Way grind option.

I am planning on pulling the trigger on some new wedges but I'd wait a few weeks of some new grinds were going to get released..... I spy some wedges in the Taylormade Onesie picture.

I have no insider knowledge but it seems like a few guys on tour like Rahm have requested TW grind 60’s in the MG2 wedges. I wouldn’t be surprised if they released the TW grind in the higher lofts at some point.

I’d play the atv grind in 50-56-and 60 degree wedges

ATV is great in a 60 degree but not the best I find for full shots. I have it on my 60 Hi Toe

I got the low bounce tour hi toe. Comes with a c grind. Absolutely best all around lob wedge I have ever played. Recommend checking them out. Got mine off the fault

I would like an ATV non hi toe I cannot stand looking down at that thing and the finish throws me off too.

I keep hearing the TW Grind will drop at a 60 12 bounce with the C Grind like he plays.

We did get a chance to see some of his wedges but they never told us explicitly if they were coming to retail. I would say it "sounded" like they were planning on releasing them. I feel like they understand the following Tiger has and how many people will buy them just because.

 

I will say that it's an incredibly specialized grind. My honest opinion is that the vast majority of golfers (yes, on this site too) would do more harm to their game than good by playing the TW grind.

just checked the WITB it’s a 60.11Great info thanks. I think Artisan sells a ton of a similar grind in their 60 as MT prolly invented that grind so I’m not sure it’s as bad as u think and certainly not worse then say the LB MG2. I use the Hi Toe ATV which has low effective bounce in the front and sure you have to understand it will dig in wet conditions but it’s pretty good in the sand and around the greens

Wish they would offer a full raw version of the MG2 wedges - not just the face.

I really like the chrome with the rusty face. Seeing lots of guys adding these to their bags this year even with the new SM8 out.

I disagree, it's a C/M/D grind with a blunted leading edge to remove some bounce for full shots/when played square. I had a friend do this grind for me on a Nike wedge about 6-7 years ago and it was darn near the best wedge I ever used post-grind. I'm far from a tour pro and it was an extremely effective grind for almost any shot. This is the second time I have heard someone say they have seen it and find it is an extremely specific grind that can do more harm than good. Yet, some of the TM tour staff have adopted it quite quickly and an interview with Trottie on Instagram highlighted that Tiger uses this grind specifically so he doesn't have to change wedges for different grass types. I took this to mean it is effective almost everywhere and would suit a wide variety of delivery, moisture, and turf conditions.

On topic, there is apparently a fully raw MG2 coming out supposedly around the same time this TW grind is reportedly being released. I also heard rumours of another wedge on a golf insiders Instagram Story about some new wedge design but I can't for the life of me remember it. I just recall saying "hmm, that is interesting" and I promptly forgot.

Yeah I agree everything I have hear about the grind is positive. I see Mike Taylor at Artisan doing grinds that look very similar. I think if TM claimed that the Milled Grind makes it easy to reproduce then there should be no reason not to release and profit from it
