Hybrids Distance - Titleist 818 H1 21 Degree goes same distance as Ping G410 19 Degree

My Titleist 818 H1 21 Degree goes about 210 yards carry. I'm trying to get rid of my woods (not good enough to him them consistently), so looking for a stronger lofted hybrid that can carry at least 225 yards.

Borrowed my friends Ping G410 19 Degree hybrid and it has the exact same carry of 210. Is this due to the stamped loft vs actual loft vs different manufacturer discussion or is it me?

I was planning to purchase a 17 degree or 19 degree hybrid to bridge the gap between my driver that goes 240 yards carry, but now I'm wondering if there is a diminishing return factor with hybrids.

any thoughts or experiences?

I find the pings to be a little bit more spin for more control. I personally think that’s why their hybrids are lower loft per the designed spot. ( 4 hybrid is 22 - 3 hybrid 19 and so on ). I very much prefer the ping to anything else for that reason.

Ping hybrids look like they have a shallower face than Titleist. It could be that you’re launching the PING a bit higher with more spin, thus getting the same numbers.

19* and 21* is also very close in loft. That gap is going to be even closer when you’re talking dynamic loft presented at impact. Depending on your delivery, you might be presenting the same loft at impact with both heads.

I would recommend getting that gap back to 4* by going with a 17* hybrid. If you have the speed to hit a 21* hybrid (3-iron loft) 210y through the air, then there’s no reason you can’t hit a 17* 225y through the air.

I’m actually more concerned why your driver is only going 240y carry. If you have the speed to carry a 3-iron loft 210y, then you should be able to carry your driver ~260-270y+.

I found the same when comparing my 818H2 (21*) to the PING G410 (19*)... as @GoGoErky mentioned it sounds like the 818 is a better fit for you and your swing

There is no guarantee that you will hit a lower lofted hybrid any further than your 21º ... it depends on many factors such as your club head speed, the spin generated, your AoA, how you deliver the club, etc. Experiment (on turf) with different models, lofts/settings, and don't rule out fairway woods unless you're totally opposed to them.

Half the clubs, twice the fun!

Thanks for all the valuable insight! There's so much good information here and things are making more sense now.The 2 degree gapping might just be too minimal difference when I sum up the average shots. I'll try to adjust the 19* to 17* and see what happens. Also, you're 100% correct that I don't get enough efficiency out of my driver - one of my biggest problems in my game. The distance gapping starts to get bunched up towards the Driver. I can hit my 7 iron 165 yards but can't hit my driver past 240.
I think @GoGoErky said it best that Titleist fits me the best. Just wanted some change in equipment by trying out SIM or other brands, but its hard to find hybrid demos that are around 17*. But gotta go with what works!
I think right now, due to some terrible misses on the course with my woods, I'm just not confident enough to carry them. @arbeck Maybe the slightly longer shaft and lower loft had unconsciously made me sweep instead of swing down. Definitely need to check my attack angle thank you!

I had an 818 h1 23* until earlier this week, hit it very well indeed, so much so that I bought the 19*. Suffice it to say I didn’t hit that anywhere near as well, so that was sold fairly quickly.

Now have a TS2 21* which I’ve only had for a couple of weeks but is going very well so far. I think we’ll get on.

The obvious step for you would be a 5-Wood IMO, which is easier to hit well than a 19* hybrid.

@Joelsim I actually looked for a 818 H1 19 - I'm glad I didn't find any used ones. I might have landed on the same boat as you! Thanks for the input.
Woods have failed me too much on the field that I just have zero confidence looking down on it. I saw a few people here replacing their 5 wood with a low lofted hybrid.
I just ordered a 17* PXG 0317 Gen 2 hybrid with a half an inch shortened shaft. The 19* worked well during the fitting so hoping I'll have good results.
