I’m particularly interested in whether there is a “crossover” point between the SIM and SIM Max, where slower clubhead speeds benefit more from the Max...

It's more likely to do with your launch conditions than clubhead speed alone. Could be a high speed player that doesn't spin it much that would get better numbers from the Max or a low speed high spin player that gets more out of the SIM.

Fitting is more about changing data. It's about tailoring a complete combo to one that suits your individual swing dynamics, feel and weight preferences, launch and spin needs, etc. Numbers will vary a ton based on strike quality, location, shaft choice, tipping, etc. This is meant to simply show how the heads at identical lofts compare with one another using the same exact set up with the only variable being the head.

Cool, can you do one using different shafts fit specifically to the head and golfer?

Some players prefer one specific head and some prefer one specific shaft so it's possible many, but not all the time,.to get close using one non variable. The most ideal situation is that the player is open to both head and shaft changes. However a lot of sponsored players do not have this option. These days however, all of the major OEM's are producing a pretty solid product. There is no substandard product amonst Ping, Taylormade, Callaway, Titleist, or Cobra. Obviously though, certain heads have characteristics that better suit certain player needs and some shine at different speeds. It's why I've resisted taking on any club sponsorship. I play what is best for me, which is a good feeling.

So is that a no? I'm only asking because I always fit into a different shaft depending on the head. So I'd like to see real optimal numbers.

I know it's not one of the top 5 but have you all been fitting anyone into the Mizuno drivers with success? ST190 or 200? I keep tinkering with other heads but always end up back at TM for my best results. The WRX ho in me is always looking for that next grail though.

These all stock heads or tour heads?

They are measured retail heads. We do also test and evaluate many Prototype products that may end up being Tour heads of some kind, but we hold that information very tightly and would never post that. It would be for internal use only.

We have the data on Mizuno heads but we don't have authorization to release that unfortunately. However I can indeed use it for customer fitting purposes.

Awesome work. I had some great numbers with the SIM when trying it out in a store, but the closeness in potential makes me think I should spend some time testing the G410 LST given their price drop.

Do understand that these are off of identical loft and face angle models. This will obviously not occur naturally in store as manufacturing tolerance will vary loft and face angle by about 1.5 degrees in some heads. Also certain brands tend to be more variable than others. Without knowing these things and being able to.measure heads, these results could vary wildly with off the rack heads.

Can’t wait to see 100mph data.

I’ve been gaming Ping G410 LST with Tensei pro White since last summer. Had my best season driving.

Tried SIM 8* with Tensei pro white and just couldn’t get along. Still want to try a 9* head.

 

just last week, put an Accra TZ5 into the Ping G410 LST and wow, what a combo. Picked up about 10-15 yds over the previous setup.

next up, Sim 9* head with Accra TZ5.
