Keep or trade cf16 for i200?

Hey guys I wanted to get your thoughts on this.

I have a set of Apex 19 that I'm gaming now but also have the cf 16 in the closet after playing a season with them.

I've been looking into the i200 again as they were a set I've always been wanting, but not sure if I'm willing to give up the distance, and the forged head!

Would you guys make the switch? Any other irons you think I should get instead? Had the srixon 565 loved them but looking for something different.

I play off 12 if that changes anything. Pretty good iron striker but I get the yips every now and then.

Thanks for the help!

I picked up a set of mint i200s over the winter that’ll get a chance to displace my 900 forged. The i200s were the other set I considered before I got the 900s. I had the i200s bent to power spec lofts, which flattens out the trajectory and removes a bit of bounce. They have a nice soft feel, wasn’t say if it’s as good as the 900 forged. Hoping for a bit more forgiveness on the days I bring my B game. Time will tell. Don’t know if this helps any, but it’s worth a try if you aren’t playing the CF16s.

I’ve never hit the cf16, but tried both the i200 and i210 extensively. The improvement from i200 to i210 is not small, the jump in feel is amazing. I would highly consider the i210 if they can be fit in your budget.

In this same category would be 919 forged. If you play well with what you have no need for change but if you want a shiny new toy of course go for it. I would recommend getting fitted so you know 100% they are the right irons for you.

The i200s are a great iron, very accurate and consistent. IMO, the only thing they give up to the i210s are a couple of yards of distance and a little softer feel.

But there's no getting around that they aren't a players distance iron like Apex (that's left to i500). So my biggest concern would be that having both would mean recalibrating distances which might have a ripple effect on the rest of the bag.

Thanks everyone. The cf16 are regular flex xp95. The reason I kept them was to have as a warm up set leading into mid season. My swing speeds usually drop and all over the place, but I never ended up using them.

I would love the i210 but I'm not sure if wifey will be to happy about shelling out more for what she sees as a perfectly good set of irons.

I guess for me it doesn't make much sense to have two generations of the same iron. I think I'll end up pulling the trigger on it.

I’ve played cf16, i200, i210 ...

cf16 were better for me in every way

Some flavor of the month driver.
Some driving iron for Links courses.

A hybrid to save my bad shots.
Titleist blades when I feel lucky otherwise something more forgiving.
A Vokey wedge or 2.
I hate every one of my 17 putters.

Hahahaha. Well don’t let some bum on the internet sway your decision. ? If you could go hit the Pings maybe that’d help.

In all honesty these are all great clubs. You can’t go wrong - they have sold millions of sets of each for a reason.

I just happen to like the height my cf16 gave me & the fact that I like to build my clubs and tinker and the Ping are a pita to work on.

Keep the CF16. They outpace the i200 by a mile

The CF16 is one of the best irons made in the last decade. So good even Callaway the giant had LOTS of trouble replacing them and it took almost 4 years which is very out of the ordinary.

Happy to hear this assessment. Although G410s are my gamers for now I still have my CF16 4-S on standby. I have no intentions of getting rid of them because I’m not sure a better set of Callaway irons exist.

Yes I did. I actually gamed the 919 forged for 3/4 rounds. The Srixon I felt were softer and gave me what I needed in the long irons and better control in the scoring irons. The turf interaction is awesome for me and the Srixon. I’ve read it caries but for my swing, I’m a big fan.

I played the CF16‘s for nearly 3 years and went Cobra forged Tec black. Really similar on distance, little better spin control and a different look. ;)

If you want something that keeps up with the distance of the Apex the Cobra might be worth a try, Ping i200 is such a great iron, just a tiny bit shorter.

It‘s really really hard to improve on the CF16, but having a set of these in the closet when playing the 19‘s doesn’t make sense to me. Swap them for something different. ?

I’m all over the place as far as what I like in the look of an iron. I sway back and forth between Ping and Callaway irons every few years but never hate one and love the other. Both are great.
