Mizuno MP 32 - Who's had them or still have em in play?

Picking up my re-gripped 32s after work...been gaming them since 2005 and very unlikely to make a change soon...but after reading this thread they make be a trip to the iron factory this winter.

They always look sharp in the bag with my trusty MP-29 1 iron ... another hold over from ancient times that has yet to disappoint.

Those look spectacular...have you had a chance to play them yet? Wondering how you like the Modus in them?

Thanks. I really like the long irons with the 120X the ball flight was impressive. 4i and 5i felt the best I have ever felt with long irons. Compression felt fantastic. Could also be the Best Grips connection.

I picked up a set of Japan Blacks a few months ago. Played 2 rounds with them so far. Maybe it's my old age catching up to me, but they come up 1/2 club short. Perhaps I need to check the lofts.

That being said, they're in my bag for this Sunday's club tournament. I'm going to aim for the back of the green if the pin is middle or back, and middle of the green if the pin is in front, in order to compensate for the 1/2 club difference. I love the way they look...

The loft's are not crazy strong compared to today's standards.

Got a set of 32's when I was in High School and played them all the way into college, had them shafted with the old satin project X, sold them to my cousin, worst decision I ever made. I have also had 2 sets of MP 37's, before and after the 32's LOVE those as well. Nothing can hold a candle to Mizuno irons in my opinion, had my eye on some JPX 900 tours lately....

Drove by your cousins house today.. the garage door was left open... just saying. :)

Had mine listed here on CFSF a couple years ago getting a few offers with their original TT DG r300 shafts, but pulled them back and reshafted them into Recoils F4 125 for mainly use as a range set to save my elbow and shoulder. Great move!

I did play them on a 50/50 rotation for +2yrs, but now with that shaft wt. they sit right in the middle of my sig. irons in shaft wts. and they have always been absolute butter on the ball! Owner since 2008 and not gonna give them up.

One thing I've noted is that if I try and hit it off the hosel - I get a real sweet spot strike more often than not - can't explain it but like that tinkering option out on the range, occasional course use.

Still have them in play. I was on a 3 or 4 year hiatus, so they are still in a good shape. But I am at a point in my life where I am making some good money and want to get a fresh set. BUT so far I have not found a set of clubs that I like as much as the 32s. Maybe I get a set of Mp-18 or MP-18 sc. Depends on how they compare to the 32 in terms of forgiveness.

If someone would offer me a brand new set of 32s, I would take it any day. I still think they are very forgiving. Have great feel. And I still hit them as far as most modern clubs.

I’m in a similar situation, last round I played was in Oct. 2013- (torn ligaments, young kids). This summer my kids got interested in getting game and we started going to range- its nice to revisit my 32s that have been stored away.

I considered a game improvement set but they are too busy and I’m not a fan of the stronger lofts. I’m also addicted to the look and the feel of the 32s.

I've played p770 irons with KBS Tour shafts for the past 2 years, not bad clubs at all. However, I have played my last two rounds with my old MP-32's (Ok my third set I'm an idiot and keep selling them)

Seriously considering moving my Bestgrips Augusta grips from 770's over to the 32's. I also plan on refinishing them with a chrome satin and reshafting them with the Modus 120 (stiff, I'm about 84mph 7i). The only change I was going to make beyond what you have done was to put some some dark green ferrules from Cell-Parts on them.

Man, some of the best irons ever, such a clean "cavity". I still game the 4 and 5 irons. Something about those heads that just looks right to me. Maybe the slightly wider sole than the pure MB Mizunos? I have had them rechromed and regrooved by the Iron Factory. I did update my 6-PW to the MP-4 irons. Stronger lofts and sharper looking PW and 9 iron.

Man... those were the good ol days. Had a set of those with Rifle Flighted 7.0s. Talk about low and piercing while still feeling like a marshmallow. Nostalgia on high alert!

so I've got a set of MP32s with DG S300's in them. They're too heavy and a bit too stiff for me. I'm thinking of having them reshafted so I can play them more comfortably. Does anyone have any experience with lighter steel shafts in the MP-32's? I'm thinking either DG 105 or Modus 105 in R or S. Soft/hard stepping is a possibility, too.

I'm not sure how to go about finding the right shaft. When stores open up again I'll go see what the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer has to say, though I don't think there's a lighter steel option in that system.

Currently I play MP20 HMB with Recoil 95s in R flex. The Recoils are a touch light and maybe a little too flexible for me.

I'm wondering how I can get a better idea of the right shaft without spending too much $$. One idea: install 3 different shafts in the MP32 7, 8 and 9 and see which one fits me best, which would mean spending an extra ~$100 to reshaft the 2 clubs I liked least. I'd probably try some combination of 105 or 110 weight in hard-stepped R or soft-stepped S.

any advice is appreciated!
