Epon Personal 2 build

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, so thought I'd share a build I've recently completed as a means of introduction. I'm based in the UK, and have lurked for a while on here, and have gratefully taken on board a lot of the advice that you guys share. I thought it's about time I involved myself. Please be kind about my ferrule turning - I don't own a belt sander, so this is all done 100% by hand. These were actually built before I got a bench vice, so I know it's thoroughly amateur.

The second best set of irons only behind the copper AF302’s IMO because I don’t have the game to play the p2’s. Absolute stunners though Sean, let us know how they work out for you!

I'll play them if I can get my handicap to below 5. Not for any reason other than I bought these to try to have something to aim for and promised myself that I wouldn't use til then. It's taking a bit of self control though! If I don't play them, I'll probably move them on to a friend that will at about cost.Totally agree about the game - they need to be done justice. Unless I can improve my game a bit, I'm not going to play them.

I'll be the contrarian and say hit 'em now. You will adjust to the concentration needed, and you may find they are easier to hit that you imagined. Tomorrow waits for no one.

Those look great. I will say the P2 is a very easy blade to play, so take the plastic off and put them into use. You will be rewarded.

Those look amazing, wonderful job building them. I stand beside everyone here in saying that you should rip the plastic off and start swinging them. It seems to be wives-tale that a certain handicap can only play blades. They will make you a better golfer all around; better ball striking, easier to move the ball, and you will know your mistakes easily by what the ball does off the face. Go play those clubs.

Question - What did you finish the ferrules with after you turned them? So glossy!!

Oh yeah, play what you love. And I know you love those irons.

I've owned/played these since 2014. For my part, If there's an easier to game blade, I haven't seen it.

I turned these completely by hand (I don't have a sander). I essentially spun them between my fingers using acetone on steel wool, then did the same with acetone on some kitchen paper. Then I used a very fine grade sandpaper (like 3000) to get rid of any ridges. Then I used a blowtorch for a second or so to get the gloss. A bit of trial and error!

I'm actually very strongly left handed! But couldn't get left handed clubs when I was a kid, so here we are! I even used to swing right handed clubs back to front when I was first given them.

Can't play golf in the UK just now! My issue is that I've completely fallen in love again with my gamers (PXG 0311T) and have got a mate v interested in buying the Epons, so completely torn.

Just invested in a complete refit/rebuild on my gamers too, so while they're away being rebuilt, I am sorely tempted. I have these bad boys in the bag in the meantime! Got myself a few dozen brand new Dunlop 65s to go with them!

Probably my favorite set to look at in the bag. Mine spend more time in the living room though, the 302’s just can’t be beat.

Ok, so how can I get my hands on a set of Personal 2 heads? I need to try these out?

As far as I know, they were a 500 set limited run in 2014, so I expect not too many brand new sets still kicking around, which is where my reticence to play them has come from! These would've been up on BST at one point, but I've not been a member long enough to list them and now are off the market. Your best bet is to try on the JDM BST forum over at TSG - someone may have a set to offload (it's where I found mine)

Sweet looking clubs and so clean looking, but there is no way I would be able to have a set of those clubs in my possession without gaming them for a month or two.
