Scotty Monterey - Change the length?

I recently acquired the subject putter in trade. The shaft band indicates it was originally 34” but it now plays at 36”. I’m happy with the putter but curious about the weight, etc. If it had been built as a 36” putter would it have been any different? Curious what the Scotty experts will say.

My Monterey is 34” and the weights are 2 x 15g. The 35” had 10g weights.

Generally as the club gets longer the head gets lighter so you'll find lighter weights in Scotty's. But if you go by feel it's all up to you, for me I prefer heavy even at 36" or longer.

I agree. I have 25g weights in my golo that is playing tonight at 36" never understood the lighter as it gets longer in putters

That's exactly wrong, longer shaft is more swingweight which makes the head feel heavier not lighter. If you shorten the Monterey by 1 ich it should be lighter by 4 to 5 swingweight points. Guessings it's very heavy now at 36 with 15 gram weights.

That's exactly what I said but I probably worded it wrong or you read it wrong. The head feels heavier so you go lighter in the head weight when lengthening the shaft and when your shorten the shaft you increase the head weight by adding head weight to the club to compensate for the loss of swing weight.

 

So for argument sake a 34" putter has a head weight of 350g but the 35" version is 345g and a 33" has 355g.

 

Am I wrong again or you read it wrong again?

Your confusing me with how your wording it Longer shaft = more swingweight and more swingweigh t= heavier head feel. Shorter shaft with same head and head weights will = less swingweight and lighter feeling head
