Stitch SL1 stand bag

Which do y’all prefer the Lux fabric or the original SL1. My wife forgot she is buying me a new bag for Valentine’s Day.

The company I work for bought us SL1's and I've been happily using it since June. My ONLY issue is the long compartment zippers have been compromised from the first 2-3 weeks I've had it in service. Stitch repaired free of charge but it's happened again. The compartment holds 2 gloves in their package and a short sleeve rain jacket.

I haven’t read all 10 pages of comments but did read the last few so this may have been mentioned already. Wanted to comment on the strap. It’s a defective design. I’m also a jones carry bag fan so I’m slighted to them. I like the stitch. Nice and clean look.

 

the strap has multiple fabrics sewn together. When you pick up the bag or Carry it the stitching gets stretched and will eventually separate. I see they’ve fixed this issue with their newer straps. I contacted customer service and they sent me a new one. Not the quality or design I’d expect at their high price point but know it was there first entry into the market

Did you receive the new strap from CS? If yes, how does it compare to the old one in terms of comfort (which I find to be pretty uncomfortable FWIW)?

Yes I received it....but as you know the world has changed. No golf at this point so I haven’t tried it.

I love this bag but the only complaint is the strap. I have beaten it up quite a bit and it still is no where near a Jones or Mackenzie in comfort.

Looks like they have made some form of change to the strap design on the 2020 SL1 that was just released a couple days ago. Will be curious to see if:

1 - It's more comfortable than SL1 version 1.0

2 - Will they sell a strap only to those of us with prior SL1 version that would like an upgrade in comfort?

I myself have an SL1 from about 18 months ago that still has yet to make it out of my basement. Love the look, the simplistic design and lack of branding/logo's like so many of the OEM offerings, but I need something more comfortable in strap design, even if I'm carrying with minimal items in the pockets and maybe 10-12 clubs max.

Just got my original SL1 Luxe bag today (not 2020 version). It was on sale for around $220 and then applied a 25% discount coupon. So ended up being about $165. I opted for the personalized ingot, so added $10. I was struck by a couple of things initially. It’s crazy light, but the opening is the smallest I have ever used. For somebody, coming from mostly 14 way dividers, to only 2, it’s going to take some getting used to. But the bag itself is amazing, and I kind of like the minimalist way it looks. I won’t carry as much as I did in my old bags, but I probably didn’t need to carry what I did. I know many have complained about the single strap, but I’ll only use it on driving range days. For golf, I’ll have it on my Rovic S, powered by the original Alphard Ewheels. Playing on Sunday, so I’ll get to test drive it, but so far, I am pretty happy with it!

Did you have any problems fitting all your clubs inside the bag? Also, did you have any tangling issues?

No problems fitting them in, and goofing around this morning, no tangling. But I am headed to the range this afternoon and I’ll check to see if tangling is an issue. Have a buddy with this bag, and he said no issue with tangling.

Went to the driving range today. Couple of thoughts. No club tangling, that is not an issue. But clubs are not going to stay in order, to state the obvious. So your 8 iron might not be right next to your 7 iron. I think I’ll be able to handle this. There’s no bag handle, as many have stated. I think I’ll be OK with that, but it would have been nice to have. Surprisingly, the single strap did not bother me. It was not uncomfortable to me at all, and the bag was well balanced. I could see walking 9 or 18 with this, but like I said earlier, the bag is going to spend most of it’s time on a motorized trolley. I am optimistic that this bag will serve as my primary bag for a number of years. Playing tomorrow, so it will get a workout then.

MSH645, is that the new "2020" version of the SL1? If so, what are your first impressions of the strap comfort? And any of the other upgrades Stitch mentioned about these bags?

I walked 18 with the new strap, and I gotta say it still sucks! Basically the same as the old one. Was really disappointed.

For others that own this bag...just wondering how you organize the clubs with the one divider. 7/7, woods and putter on top and all irons together?

I have D, 3W, H, Putter up top. 4-PW, 52, 56, 60 on bottom. I have no issues with club tangle. If you are having tangle issues, I find it's better to set the bag down vertically pull your club then extend the legs. I really love my bad - just wish the strap was more comfortable.

I have the driver, 2 hybrids, putter, 4 iron and 5 iron up top, 6-PW and 50/54/60 wedges on the bottom. So 6 on top and 8 on bottom, no issues with tangle.

Have used my 2020 one for two rounds with cart and one carry.

Have one spot wear material has chipped off and the new strap still isn’t the best for carrying. So somewhat disappointed right now. Cause I really love the look and want it to work. Wrote stitch about the material chip will see what happens

I wrote about this in another thread about Vessel bags but I really believe that a cart strap cover is a must for these “vinyl” bags. Kell-ProMine stays in my bag at all times. I would never strap my bag in without it. I’ve even asked the guys at bag drop to use it and they’ve never had a problem.

May have to get them. I knew of the issues so was making sure not to strap the bag in too tight. Didn’t seem to matter.

Wanted to follow up they will be allowing me to return the bag. Really great response time and service on their part. I will be ordering another bag from them. Now will have to debate the sl1 vs sl2. Will also be getting a strap cover. I checked out vessels site and they are now selling their own. I am not positive the cart strap caused my issue but clearly it is something to look out for.
