So lets say after i play my rounds on Saturday and Sunday, i play MUCH better than i usually do (which shouldnt be difficult, since i can actually get height and distance on the ball)....What is my solution? To bring my Titleist set to a fitter and have them change the configuration of the clubs to the old ones?

I'm not trying to be rude, but you keep saying you're striking the ball perfectly, but you're only hitting a 9 iron between 100 and 115 yards, shooting in the 130's and can't get the ball off the ground with the $1,000 set of clubs. I'm not sure what you're looking for here. Could this random ancient set of clubs somehow just happen to be the perfect compensation for the faults in your swing? Probably yes. But you've only been playing for a year I think you said, so in my opinion, to this early in your golf journey determine that you can only play golf with this mystical $5 set of clubs would essentially be to give up. It'd be like me going to play baseball and saying, well I strike out every time I try to get a hit so I'm just going to bunt every time I'm up since that's only way I can make contact. That's not the answer. I agree that lessons can be hit or miss based on the instructor, but if you literally cannot get the ball in the air with certain clubs, then you need a professional's opinion as to what is going on. If you don't do this, and you just resign yourself to playing with this random $5 set, you risk further cementing some really bad habits that just happen to work with that specific ancient set of clubs. You'll really just be setting yourself further back if you ever want to get better.

I really encourage you to first go ask a professional whats going on that is causing you to be unable to even get the ball airborne, then I would go trade in the irons and find a set that feel really comfortable to you. When I first started playing I bought this old set of G15 irons for like sub $200. You don't need to spend much, but you should spend more than $5.

That would be a good starting point. Take both sets in and tell him your situation and let him take it from there. They might not be able to identify the shaft on the old irons, but they'll definitely have you try different shafts until you find one that works. Also let him know if you like the look of the old club better. You can also do a shaft fitting instead of a club fitting if you want which may be cheaper. Sometimes you can go into golf galaxy and just hit some ap1's with different shafts without paying for a fitting and do it on your own. But a pro fitting is always best, especially for someone relatively new to the game, and they don't charge you for the fitting if you buy the shafts or clubs or whatever. One of the best things I did for myself was to educate myself about the golf swing, my swing, clubs & shafts, and clubmaking, so now I basically do my own fittings by just picking up used irons and shafts. I can just look at an iron head and specs on the shaft and pretty much know if it will work for me or not. Good luck to you, there's so much to learn and so much information and disinformation out there. Just gotta keep learning and practicing if you want to get good.

That's why this is so frustrating. The last instructor i found, was really good, and he was able to explain things easily to me....I'm doing exactly what he taught me, and i cant get 1 clean hit with my Titleist set. He was even getting annoyed, and told me to just work on these drills that he gave me (which i did).

So what bothers me, is the fact that i take everything he taught me, applied it to a different set of clubs, and im putting the ball where ever i want, with beautiful high shots. That's why it leads me to believe that there is either something wrong with my Titleist set, or something in its configuration that strongly disagrees with me.

All i know is, when i hit the $5 clubs, i felt confident, and i couldnt get the smile off my face, because i was truly going exactly where i wanted to go. With my Titleist, i might as well be standing on the moon. The clubs feel so top heavy in my backswing, i have no idea where the head is going to be at impact.

Not buying it? So you think im lying? What purpose would i have for lying?

The last lesson i had with him, which was about 2 weeks ago, i did everything he taught me. Put a glove under my left arm, made sure it didnt fall through my swing, 65% of my weight on my right leg, hit down on the ball, divot after the ball, not before....I did all of those things, and it didnt make any difference.

I do all those things when using this 20 year old set, and i hit it flush EVERY time.

No sorry, if i said that, then it was by accident....I did NOT hit my set fine at my lesson. That is what made the lesson so infuriating for me. I am taking into account everything that he is saying, and i am putting it all to use, but the result was still the same.

But then i use all of his 'tips' while using the old iron set, and the results are beautiful.
