Left Handed but golf right handed

Left-handed writer that does everything else right-handed. Impact is that it's a lot easier to find golf clubs.

I'm right-handed and play right-handed, but have had some oddities that suggest to some people that I probably should've been left-handed (darn those nuns). I'm not sure how seriously I take that opinion, though.

I'm left eye dominant. Someone on an mma forum, who is a fairly bright guy, thought this was a sure sign that I'm actually left-handed. It was a long time ago, so I can't remember if he cited any sources to back this up. It's also entirely possible he was just messing with me.

I always own at least one left-handed club. One guy, the owner of the driving range I was at, commented that my weight shift was better lefty (or, maybe my right leg is shorter?).

I play horseshoes and cornhole better left hand, but I think it's just because my left hand doesn't go all 'Dr. Strangelove' on me.

I bat for more power left-handed, but make better contact right-handed.

After teaching myself to throw left-handed, I threw a football with a spiral, for the very first time in my life, left-handed (I was then able to apply that same feel to my right side and get a spiral there, too).

I've tried putting left-handed, and while the stroke is not an issue, it looks totally wrong to me.

My Yoga teachers all say that one's dominant side is almost always more flexible, but for me, it's the left.

I’m right handed in everything except batting and golf. I find it makes it a little harder on touch chips because my dominant hand is pulling too quick.

I'm a lefty for everything except golf. And as a result, I have a problem hitting behind the ball with my irons, and despite many efforts to fix it, I havent found a solution. Until ... I found the cast, no cast drill from Monte. It works but hard to do when you have always let the right hand go along for the ride.

I am trying to convince myself to start the downswing by trying to "cast" the club with the right hand. For some reason it works exactly opposite of that and keeps the hands ahead of the clubhead all the way through impact.

I am left handed and right eye dominant. Apparently, that is a less than common combination, I saw at least one earlier poster mention the same. Billiards, firearms are all right handed. Baseball swing and throw, lefty. Football throw, righty.

I would describe myself as an above average ball striker, especially irons/fwy woods, driver can be finicky. (Insert 30+ yard block miss) I think there a lot of swing thoughts and tendencies that righties, playing right handed, that basically don’t apply to me. I try to engage my right forearm (rotation) on backswing more as a result, it probably won’t ever “over rotate.”

As someone else mentioned, have to fight aiming right of target. Very left sided through swing etc. my right arm through full swing is pretty much along for the ride, fight a strong left hand grip and weak right hand placement. I like the weak right hand tendency but have to ‘reset’ left hand every once in awhile. Apparently being lefty helps me with chipping (according to others) seems that depends on the day.

 

Who knows. I certainly cannot hit a ball well left handed.

Lefty in everything except batting, soccer, and golf. I'm also left side forward in boxing, which I should be flipped. Right eye dominant. Never really thought of what impact it may have in golf. Like Jake, my left arm makes my swing and my right arm is just along for the ride. I do have trouble releasing the club through impact fairly often. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe it's because I don't trust my right arm's control. Who knows. Not going to dwell on it. I'm already thinking about enough prior to and during my swing lol

I'm right side dominant in like 95% of things such as writing, throwing, kicking, day to day tasks, etc. Baseball I can hit switch but better right handed, I'm even right eye dominant. But in golf I'm left handed and hockey I shoot left which probably lead to me being lefty in golf, I never remember figuring out which way I shot in hockey, must be the Canadian thing of starting early.

 

Anyways I took a long break from golf, got back into it 2.5 years ago, thought about switching to RH as I have way more power from that side but a repaired right shoulder caused me to lack mobility swinging from the right side but left I'm fine. That's fine I'll be the hefty lefty of golf.
