Scotty Cameron Newport Restoration

I'm waiting for this Scotty to get to me that I just picked up in the B/S/T forums. I'd like to strip off the rust and finish that it currently has even though it's minimal with coke or CLR and either gunblue or torch blue to finish it. The are minimal nicks and dings and figured sanding with a coarse sand paper down to a finer and finer grit ould do the trick to smooth everything out.

Any help or opinions and tips would be greatly appreciated!

BOS or other< Scotty will charge twice what the putter is worth. Or better option DYI, I have a topic on the "how to".

Can you link me to your "How to" I want this to be a DIY Project. Im also thinking about doing this to some raw vokeys I have.

Wow, to me that's not in that bad shape at all

I'd just take the rust off and game the hell out of it

If you want to try DIY, I'd find one of those that is completely trashed.

Looks like an original oil can Newport in really good shape for it's age. I agree with not touching it. Remove the rust spots by lightly using some Flitz on it. Then oil the hell out of it and watch the shine come back. Game on.

I'm giving a go with torching some vokeys now and wanted to see if I could get that purple blue color out of them. But if I were to just remove the rust and oil it. What would you use ??

Put some baby oil on the rust spots and go at it with some 0000 or 000 steel wool. Then keep it oiled with some food grade silicone spray.

Great gamer. may need a little weight added to it but those old school, carbon Newports feel sweet.

6/10 overall condition for a year 2000ish is great.Steel wool and oil is good idea.My putter was 333 grams added 12 grams tip weights 8+4.DIY is low cost or zero!! Game it and Love it
