Expensive shafts and Puring or spining a shaft

I was always in the camp that buying expensive shafts and puring them or looking for the spine a huge waste of money.

Anyways I got a fitting and have to come to find out expensive shafts are actually well worth the money if they fit you. So much so it is stupid not use them if they fit.

which then leads me to my second question. When buying them figured might as pure the irons since i spending so much I might as well do everything including the sst puring as well.

All I can say is the results are amazing almost better then I could imagine even think the puring helped. So long story short I went ahead and spined the driver shaft after looking up how to do that on YouTube and I seen a huge improvement in dispersion it was much more accurate.

i am now thinking there must be something to puring and finding the spine on shafts.

I spine every shaft i build.Thats all i will say.Its no cost option!

On my ping g and 917 f2 no noticeable spine on these fairways.

How do you aline the spine with 12 o clock being face up at address?

So how did you find the spine on your shaft?

It’s easy get a few bearings and some PVC pipe. Plenty of videos on YouTube.

Imo

1) puring a waste of money. Only get if free.

2) "exotic" tends to be better for higher speed guys usually since these materials are usually used to help keep staffs more stable. However, it's more about fit than anything else. Made for can be just fine also.

That is pure bs I have a pured shaft and was easily able to find it by feel in the same spot. The spine is easy to find. Sure SST might be better but it makes sense to find the spine.

 

i not buying that you need to know more then the spin just for a little more consistency. The reality is purring helps but not a miracle either. You only talking about 3-5 shots a round in possible miss hit shots.

high end shafts are for people looking for a consistent shot. If you can swing consistent then the need for a better shaft becomes pretty obvious.

90-95% of the people out there don’t need puring because they can’t deliver the club square anyways but that doesn’t mean the 5% that benefit from it should not do it.

Are you saying high end shafts are better because they are more expensive?

It seems to me that if a less expensive shaft has the same measured specifications as a more expensive shaft they will perform the same at a fraction of the cost.

No I am not saying more expensive shafts are better just that it seems that the better shafts tend to have a better flex profile when those profiles are much more impressive of you are concerned about shaping your shot.

if your hitting all over the place then does not really matter if the shafts bends more in the middle Instead of say the tip. Honestly it might even help.

The vast majority of golfers though use the wrong shafts and that is even after they have been fitted.

Spine to 9pm or 6pm.

I started doing this as my wedge shots at range were either left or right of flagtargets.

So..i had read of spining..didit..hit flags

I think that some high end shaft manufacturers offer a stock shaft that more easily meets the needs of some golfers.

Agree that if you are spraying the ball everywhere then shaft profiles are not that important and if you purchase a shaft that is out of spec with your fitting then the marketing people have done their job.

Builds. All we are saying is choose a build preference and run with it......

Lefties would spine to

3 pm.......to target

If you find more shots with short irons are closer too the pin from now on.............
