Reed can flat out play. Has so many shots. Sad thing is, with his game, he doesn't need to cheat!! Weird that he does these things at this level, like more of a mental hiccup? I just don't know.

Maybe Gene Sarazen is smiling at the "plus 8" pants...soon we'll go full circle!

He's not blocking it out or compartmentalizing. He thinks winning makes everything ok. We had a football player here in Australia called Ben Cousins who is a drug addict. Very sad story. One of the most decorated footballers of his era. He has said in an interview that the harder he trained and the better he played the more he could justify the drugs as a reward for his effort. The more Patrick Reed cheats the more he thinks he has to win to make things better. If only you could bottle that sports psychology for good things. "The more I win the more I get to volunteer at the homeless shelter!"

Winning makes what ok? That would be Reed's response, as he probably doesn't care what others have to say about him. He broke a rule and was penalized, in his mind he didn't cheat.

He only cares about winning, which is probably why he makes stupid decisions like the one in the Bahamas.

Regardless of what one thinks about Reed it's surely undeniable that he has outstanding mental strength to go along with an elite game.

Unfortunately for Reed it doesn't delete the videos and first-hand knowledge, thats on record forever. It's impossible to say for 100% certain regarding intent, a point that Kostis made as he stressed he wasn't making that judgement, but the wins/achievements add to the conversation but the "allegations" will stick.

I've always enjoyed watching him play and didn't care much for the pile-ons but the recent stuff has meant I have lost the inclination to defend him while still able to recognise his skill.

I don't think it will have shut up anyone and given his history it's almost certain there will be another Reed controversy sometime in the future.

This is exactly like watching WCW wrestling on Saturday morning. I had buddies as a kid who hated Ric Flair. I silently rooted for him to ruin their guys day with a chair to the back of the head. Or a roll of quarters hidden in his boot. Patrick delivering chairs to the back of RR pipers head ! Priceless. I don’t know why that entertains me. But it does.

That's why I'm here too.

As others have said, you have to hand it to the guy. His mental toughness is crazy good. All that said, he has to live with whatever he did. Even I have to admit, it's hard to root for the guy. But he's obviously taken the tack of "F it. If I have to be the villain, then so be it." It's just me, my family and my team." But the sad part is, away from the course, I hear that he's actually pretty friendly. It's just weird that it doesn't carry over to golf and his peers.
