What’s Replacing Your Ping G400 Max for 2020?

It can't be replaced. I even have a brand new one when the first one dies. Tour reg shaft.

Probably won't be replaced. Starting with the G5, I've only had two other drivers, the G20, and the G400 Max. If the Max gets replaced, first look goes to Ping.

I've gone to a SIM Max for now, and have been extremely impressed. I knew I was giving up some distance with the Max, but after moving to the SIM for two rounds, my normal golf buddy has started questioning his driving saying "dude - I don't know what's wrong with me - I typically hit it past you but you've been consistently outdriving me recently." Gotta admit - that felt pretty good.

I'd add that I've hit some of my longest drives ever with the SIM (Ventus Blue) - and drove my first ever Par 4 green.

That said, I hit the Mav SZ and it may actually be better ...

I’m old with a 90 mph swing speed but I got the urge to try something different.I tried most of the new drivers at GG and there wasn’t nothing that knocked out the g 400 max and believe me being a club ho I had the itch to try something different but in the end it was worth keeping the max.

Has anyone ever considered that a shorter driver is by nature more accurate? I never had until now. Maybe I was giving the G400 Max too much credit?

The question for me is what is going to replace my Ping G LST?, I have the G400 LST head and have played many rounds with it, while sound and feel are different, I continue to go back to the G due to better results...I play 44.25" shaft in my driver (I have 3 shafts that I put in play depending on the course), that said, there are many great drivers out there, I suggest test the ones that "first" catches you eye, if I like the looks of a driver, I tend to play it better, then of course, go to performs best for you, at that point looks really don't make a difference, good luck.

The issue I have with G400 Max is the sound. It's not the best and I all try new clubs and when they come out. with that said I hit the SIM MAX and was really getting some good numbers.

I'm going to a driver fitting in two weeks and that is one I want to try and the M5 as well. Hit the M5 some and really liked the feel.

I'll be open to anything even if it's sticking with the G400 max if the numbers are there.

Feed about 10" of yarn into the head through the weight port screw hole. Mutes the sound considerably. Could stuff even more if you wanted an even more muted, duller sound. I have done this to both 400 Max heads I've had. When I sold the first head, I pulled the yarn out with a rigged up paper clip, so no issue there.

Not sure what the big deal is with the sound of the G400 Max. It sounds fine to me. However, I do note the F9 feels better even though I can't explain it. Regardless, the only thing I care about is hitting the ball and watching it land in the fairway with a boring trajectory. The G400 Max deliveries that time and time again, more than any other driver I've hit.

Love my G400 Max with the PING Tour 65 shaft, but for more yards I'm going to the ST200 which is going from a 45.25" to a 45.00" club. Just trying to decide on a shaft. Kuro Kage Silver Tini, Diamana Blue S+ and Tensei CK Blue are all candidates. I will test one more time to choose. I might wait for outdoor testing (weather) to really see trajectory and dispersion, which could happen in a week.

I am not willing to go backwards in forgiveness to chase a few yards. With that said, there are a ton of good drivers out there and I have shown the ability to make impulse buys, sooooo I will not be testing any of them.

Picked up a G400 Max a few months ago after playing a G400 SFT the last 2 years. Only 2 rounds in so far, but loving it!

I really like the fade bias settings of the G410+. Distance wise they're about the same. The dispersion is better for me with the G410 so bye bye MAX.

I realised my G400 Max was too low lofted for me and while planning to just replace the 9 with the 10.5 head I noticed that the Cally Rogue was selling for half the price of what i could get for my MAX. As I had previously played Callaway drivers, I have a number of shafts with optifit adapters so decided to pull the trigger and have all Callaway woods in my bag once again. Knowing me, I'll probably use the difference to buy a couple of extra used shafts (got my eye on a Tensei orange as we speak).

I have found that with adjustable drivers, some tweaking of the settings can make a big difference in terms of forgiveness and have always found the Callaway adjustments easy to dial in, but bigger still, is finding the right shaft, and as i like to play my drivers between 44-44.5, its just easier for me to set up with the shafts I already have at that length and the spare Callaway weights i have in a drawer.

I had considered getting a Fusion off of the number of recommendations on this forum but for £30 more I felt the forgiveness of the Rogue would be similar and the look and sound would be a little more pleasing to me.

Currently testing Sim Max and Mav Std. I didn't like the sound or feel of G410.

So far based on feel and dispersion we are going with Mav. Sim has been too harsh on toe strike (which happens far too often..)

Either way - it is really tough to kick my G400 Max out of the bag.. sooo good.

Same here, I have a Srixon 785 driver that is longer on the monitor, but it's a joke how forgiving the Max is, if you average it out the Ping is the better option. I'm also convinced for any driver going forward I'm going to find the most forgiving version and crank down the loft with a low spin shaft.

I'm not playing the game correcty...I was play the Epic Flash and I'm now playing the G410 plus...accuracy is so nice with this driver...I feel comfortable with club and I love the dispersion . Its a great choice that I made.

I doubt I make any changes going into this year. I finally got my bag where I wanted it and after our first demo day this year at the clubhouse there was nothing that really spoke to me. A good year for my wallet hopefully!
