Taylormade Truss Putter

Ok I’ve been looking forward to this technology and bought one on Friday after extensive testing against the Spider. I got the TB2 - the center shafted blade. The center shaft model seems to have more of the truss neck connected to the the putter head than the heel shafted TB1 and it I does feel a little more sold than the TB1. Both blade models had a better sound at impact than the mallet models.

I played with it yesterday and will again today on pretty bent grass fast greens. It has a very pleasing feel and sound at impact with what feels like a huge sweet spot. My distances were extremely consistent. I found it easy to line up and the roll really stayed on line. Almost every putt feels like a good strike. Also really like the premium CT Putter shaft. Consider me impressed with this club.

For reference, I’m a 5 that struggles with putting but the Truss bailed me out of some bogeys yesterday for some long par save putts.

These putters may be groundbreaking and amazing performers....who knows! However, I do know that one year from now these will be on a discount golf website for $80. The look of these will not appeal to the masses and Taylormade will have a warehouse full of them to sell going into next years release of the new models.

I'd view that as much more of a negative. You need the feedback to let you know when you made a poor stroke otherwise you will continue to make poor strokes because they felt good.

Here’s my problem with the crowd here: I’ve been here for years but rarely post. Today I have something meaningful to contribute and people here poo all over my post. Meanwhile certain other frequent posters write boring posts about what clubs they should play and everyone replies like it’s the last post on Wrx. Seems a little snobbish to me. Not one person is curious about someone’s experience with this putter, really?? I thought this was a friendly place of like-minded individuals.

I don't think you should take it personally. It's not you, it's the putter! These have been slammed hard in every thread they are talked about, regardless who started the thread.

You are obviously in the honeymoon stage right now, and it seems rare that very odd looking clubs last long in someones bag. So don't be offended if people sound skeptical. But hopefully the honeymoon phase will last and this will become your favourite putter for years to come! I look forward to giving them a go once I see them in shops around here.

I appreciate the post. I also agree they're hideous, but I suck at putting, so I'd try one and when it didn't work, I'd just add it to the other 15 putters collecting dust in the garage.

I agree, this forum is pretty much dead. But then again most forums are heading the same route. Not sure if all the bloggers hurt it but if u do have a question or review it’s hard to get a response and when you do it’s a highly criticized response. Now that’s not all the time I’ve had some good responses but the putter thread doesn’t seem as frequented as others

but back to truss I’ve hit them and they have felt ok and they get the ball rolling quick

They are certainly not the most attractive putters by any stretch and the community doesn’t take kindly to change and anything as different looking as the ‘Truss’ was bound to get bashed (the name is enough to bring scorn)...

The centre-shafted blade is growing on me (hate the blue accents, but this is my personal issue), the mallets actually don’t really look that bad. At the end of the day I have to agree these won’t be at regular price for too long.

The original Ping putters were considered ugly and strange when they came out 60 years ago. Tiger still plays a variation of it.

The problem in these forums, is people who haven't played a particular piece of equipment still have an opinion about them. That

doesn't help anyone.

TM release with Hype and OverHype.Im in sales so i get it.The Truss being a completely new design...i cant see any similarity to the one BallsDeep posted?will have its 30 days in the spotlight before the powercut and DeeeeepDiscount.Yes it may work and with a respray and or raw finish may be a great buy used Xmas next year .I but great gear that works regardless of resale value and on line opinion.

So while the mallet is not good, I rolled the center shaft blade and I gotta say... pretty good results. Tested it against a white hot pro #1 style blade and the Truss felt much more stable. Felt a little jumpy compared to the more firm/dull white hot insert but I could see myself giving it a go if I found a good deal on a used one.

BMC, you don't have to have hit it to comment on the look, which is what most people here are objecting too. The name & look make this one a non-starter for me & I play a Ti Anser with a silly blue neck. Look forward to seeing a TM staffer break out one of these monstrosities.
