well said. theres something in the air with these types of statements. the "its not fair crowds" if you will. there are restaurants that wont serve you if youre not wearing a blazer/sport coat. cant wait to hear his take on that. bars/night clubs that wont let you wear baseball caps or shorts... its nothing different. these clowns make a little money and think they figured the world out and lecture others. Watch his interviews from his first couple of yearson tour and in the ryder cup when he was hurt. Not a peep of this attitude or arrogance. He wins a few majors and now wants to opine on everything, acts annoyed that media wont challenge him with "real questions". its clown behavior

For the record, I don't agree with Brooks' comments. Specifically I don't think having to take off your hat in a country club is "ruining the game".

I like BK’s opinionated style but to me what he’s saying doesn’t make sense. The clubs he’s describing have to comprise less than 5% of the golf courses out there. The biggest problem for golf right now is cost (for both the player and the clubs themselves) and time. Joe 6-pack isn’t not coming to the local muni track because of the stuffy atmosphere. I think Brooks is just out of touch.

Yeah but if I want to play Pine Valley, why do I need to know a member and even if I know a member, why do I need to wait for them to get out on the course? What kind of hoopla is that? With that being said, at my club we can't get certain members to fix their ball marks, fill divots, and rake bunkers. I'm fairly certain there have not been any dress code violations reported or acted on in quite some time

It sounds like Brooks is talking about golf courses like Augusta National. Sure places like that are going to be stuffy. They are just .001% of courses out there, though.

There are plenty of courses these days with super laid back policies.

Sounds like Brooks just needs to get out more.

In my humble opinion, it’s incumbent on the member to make that environment work. Typically if the club knew you had guests coming there would be no eggshells. They would load you up and direct you to the range, while asking if you wanted anything to drink etc.

Private clubs exist for people to enjoy the company of other people who hold similar values. There is no right nor wrong. If you don't like a clubs values or dress code, don't go there. It really is that simple.

There are tons of munis and semi-private courses people can play if they do not want to mix with the stuffy CC types. But as long as people have lots of money there will always be private clubs. If Brooks doesn't like it maybe he should get out of his exclusive club and make a statement that way. Maybe skip Augusta one year to drive home the point. Ha.

Pat Perez is an outsider. Pat Perez says a lot of blunt things on and off the radio. He doesn’t have the Augusta National look. But, he’s not an a-hole about everything, seems to enjoy and respect the game, and some people enjoy pulling for him. If Koepka showed an ounce of humility about what he gets paid to do for a living, people may find more empathy.
