Honma tr20 line

Has anyone hit these? What were your thoughts? I hit the driver and tr20v irons at a demo day last weekend and was extremely impressed! The driver I got to hit on foresight and the numbers were great paired with a tour ad iz shaft. The demo day had other oem’s there. Callaway, cobra, srixon, Ping, mizuno and others and the honma driver produced the best numbers for me and the irons felt amazing too. Do you think more people will play their brand in 2020?

That's not unexpected, Honma has the most powerful brand image in east Asia for decades, the logo of mole represents hign-end quality and technology.

Must be a cultural thing. As a brand symbol, a mole doesn't represent a powerful brand image in Western civilization.

 

It represents a rodent that you want to kill.

No doubt the driver looks awesome. I love the irons too, and they're on the short list if I do get a new set this year. For now, I'm holding out until the blades are released this summer to see how they'll combo with the TR20-V.

Tr20 was the best driver I tried at pga show demo day. I'm waiting for mine to arrive once it becomes available.

From mid Feb, mind you this is just what they shared w/ a consumer, maybe a rep or retailer has more info.

If anybody is located in So Cal you can actually buy the irons and driver now in person at Honma House. I hit the driver a few weeks ago and they had them on the shelf ready to be purchased.

I stand corrected.Moles have pointed noses that distinguish them from meadow voles, gophers, and shrews. ... This mole is the strongest of the group and is most often associated with tunnels and or mole mounds by residential homeowners. Moles are not rodents, but belong to a group of mammals called insectivores.

I will modify my comments to say that insectivores do not make a strong brand statement.

TR20 driver was just released, went into Justins bag.. And now he switched to the SIM driver. Not the nest image for Honma.

I actually had to look it up to see what they were. I've just received word from the Society of Moles, and apparently they're rebranding and would prefer to be called Talpidae, not insectivores. It's an image thing.

 

As for being lucky in some Asian cultures, I'm not sure, but I do know that they featured in a popular Japanese arcade game that came out many years ago in which you have to hit a (toy) mole on the head with a hammer as it pops up from a hole. Whack-a-mole I think it's called. Not sure the mole feels too lucky about that.
