Has anyone shipped a club to the UK?

I am selling a driver (callaway epic flash subzero triple diamond) and someone from the UK is interested. I've never really tried to ship other than to Canada, not sure how it gets done, if there are any issues with customs, and I have no idea how much it might cost. Any ideas would be appreciated. Sorry for posting this here, not sure where it should go. Thanks

I have. No issues at all. It was about 40 bucks to ship a putter but that’s a while back and there’s been increases since then. But yea do your homework as stated above. Ask for his address and confirm the shipping costs. He may decide it’s not worth it.

Buyer may ask you to declare it as a gift (aka lie) to avoid fees on his end. That’s up to you to decide if you wanna do it.

Yup, shipped all over the world when I was selling a lot on eBay. I found that I could get higher prices from international buyers especially since I was willing to shop international.

There is a firm you fill out if you go USPS-which I found to be the best pricing for international shipping. Fed ex and ups wanted ALOT!

I don’t recall if any buyer asked me to list it as a gift but I’m sure it happened, it’s to avoid a tax on their end, VAT maybe. Anyway it’s not as scary as some may make it seem. Use PayPal and common sense, you’ll be fine.

You’re going through all this trouble, I have a feeling as soon as you go to the potential buyer with the shipping up charge all you’ll hear is crickets.

I will ship internationally through eBay, since they do all the leg work. But here, that’s just too many extra hoops for me to jump through. I mean, if someone overseas offered me an extra hundred bucks over my list price to ship to them, I’d probably consider it. But by that point, how good of a deal is it anyways?

Β

Thinking about it, the best option for shipping overseas might be to coordinate a β€œspecial” eBay listing with the potential buyer, and let eBay handle the shipping.

Paying 10% eBay fees plus shipping to Kentucky may be cheaper in many situations versus shipping overseas yourself. The problem is with more expensive items that will cost more in eBay fees, they also cost more to fully insure. I am not sure how this affects the buyer having to pay customs fees, I’m only looking at it from a seller’s point of view. Honestly, if someone from overseas wanted to buy from me, the hoops to jump through would be theirs and not mine.

Β

*also, if I were going to go the eBay selling route, the eBay fee wouldn’t even be a consideration because I would figure the cost into the price I offer.

Okay, not in UK but I am in Australia and I have bought a number of items from BST. I my case USPS is the best cost wise to ship with and normally it will not be to hard on you to get the costs through the usps website. I would expect if he has asked for shipping he is serious and it will only be an issue if the cost are huge which is not the case with USPS

Whenever I put a listing up on eBay or anywhere else that I was willing to ship international, I had the buyer pay whatever costs were associated and more often than not they were happy to do so. It’s a pita to ship international and a lot of people won’t do it. Huge opportunity list imo, almost always the buyers paid my full asking price or at least way more than any domestic offer I’d get.

thongs may be different now, it’s been 2-3 years since I was really selling heavy on eBay. It overseas buyers are a huge market that lay top dollar and understand the added cost of shipping.

Things are drastically different now selling internationally on eBay, if you haven’t sold since they started their new global shipping program. I agree with you on the lost sales because of not selling internationally, but eBay’s made it so easy now that there is no reason for me to even consider selling internationally here (or anywhere else). It’s literally exactly the same as if I were shipping across town. No extra shipping, no extra paperwork, no communicating over time zones, no unexpected charges. And my shipping responsibility ends when the item arrives in Kentucky. It’s not that I won’t do it, I just won’t do it here because of the much better alternative over on eBay.
