What club houses here in Indiana are stuck in the 50's, 60's or 70's?

I love these places and if they serve beer I like to just sit, sip and take in the history.

Etna Acres between Marion and Huntington is one of those for me. Charming, FANTASTIC owners, GREAT cheeseburgers. Salt of the earth venue.

Looking for spectator intel for Purgatory My daughter is participating in a college event there the first week of April. I’m coming in from out of town and don’t know what to expect in terms of weather. My 80 year old, and fiery, father is coming and I’m going to have a cart. Any additional information is appreciated.

Easy to view from the path, though the path is not contiguous (some holes don't have it for the entire length of the hole - 4, 5, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18). It's got some hills but nothing major. A few greens may be tricky to see from the path.

Early April could be anywhere from 40s-60s (70s if we're lucky, and it did snow last year or the year before mid-April). We've had a mild winter for the most part, so conditions should be decent.

Everyone other than me swears by the bloody mary's in the clubhouse if that's your thing.

Dress warm if temps are below 60. Winds are consistent out there due to the wide open links style course. Only a few small hills to worry about, but very walkable if you care to walk a few holes. It can range anywhere between cold and snowy to 70 degrees and sun. I’m sure that’s not the answer you were looking for in terms of the temperature, but it’s central Indiana and us residents hate it just as much!

April weather in IN could yield the full spectrum. You won't know until a few days prior so stay tuned. Bring a blanket, snacks and settle in. I'm sure you know the rolling picnic drill. lol

She must be playing in the Purgatory Intercollegiate... good luck and let us know how it goes. I live within a few miles of Taylor U which plays in it. Go Trojans!

Pretty course with a beautiful little log-built clubhouse. And yes, the Bloody Mary's, with beer chaser, are a signature there. Tip: Sub in Petron Silver to make it a Bloody Maria. Breakfast in head!

She is indeed playing in the Purgatory Intercollegiate. It is a deep field, at least four top twenty teams participating ( all from a Indiana). I’ll be pulling for the orange and back of Indiana Tech.

Hi all, I'm in the early stages of planning my 2020 golf trip and am considering Indianapolis as the scene of the crime. Hamilton County used to have an engine on their site to put together a package of the area courses, but I'm not sure its as easy as it once was. The individual course sites don't seem to have packages available either. This leads me to a question...am I better off just waiting until a week before the trip to try to score golfnow/teeoff deals at the area courses?

We generally play 4 rounds on our trips, and I'd be looking at playing a combo of Purgatory, Brickyard Crossing, Bear Slide, The Fort, Prairie View. Any other recs? Coming from Chicago, so we'd also consider playing a course on the way down between Chicago and Indy.

Played The Players Club in Yorktown yesterday. Great shape even though the green aeration holes weren't quite healed all the way. Always a fun and challenging track for me.

Cancelled my flight to Chicago in May. Was looking forward to Palmira, then Trophy Club, The Fort, and a double cheeseburger-no middle bun-at Workingman’s Friend. Sad.

Got out Sunday at Tri County. They are letting carts out again. Boy has my game suffered during this period of inactivity. Although I did bang the raised cup from 145 yards out for an eagle.... sort of!!

I drive by the newly finished Pfau Golf Course almost daily and it looks amazing! I am curious when it will finally open? I can't wait to play it.

So, how did Swan lake look?

I played Autumn Ridge in Ft Wayne yesterday and it was great. Staff's always friendly, greens were stellar and the course, despite lack of rain, was in really good shape.

Anyone have a suggestion for a club fitter for a junior? My 11 year-old has been playing competitively for a couple years and been using Flynn Golf clubs (which are great).

 

Now that he’s entering that in-between stage, I’m thinking it may be time to have his swing speed checked to make sure his clubs are still correct for him. Any local Indy suggestions would be appreciated.

We played it the week that it opened. I would argue its as tough as anything I've played in Indiana. Its on point with Kampen or the Ross course as far as difficulty goes. Great layout with on where to miss. #18 is one of the hardest holes in the state.

Yep, 18 is a beast. When the natural grasses grow all the way in a couple years from now, that course will be torture. Mr. Smyers wanted it to be a championship
