Valhalla is actually owned by the PGA of America. I know it is set to host again in 2024, but I think they always have it in reserve if there are any emergency course issues with another site.

Years ago I talked to one of the higher level people at the PGA about something like this happening and they assured me that there is always a backup site for every major except for The Masters.

Haha, in all seriousness, ITTF just cancelled a large tournament due to safety concerns so it's only natural other sports will due the same if a need is seen.

I don't panic easily. I distrust almost everything brought to us by governments, media given the past decade.

Sure, coronavirus is a thing. But the tournament is 3 months from now, in May. SARS substantially disappeared in May, as did most all the flu-like respiratory pandemics (or near pandemics) due to temperature limitations on the virus. There may, and probably be, some residual cases but nothing worth cancelling the PGA Championship (or the Olympics) over.

You gotta wonder if Musk is like building space stations and rockets for uber rich so they can bolt if some global catastrophe hits.

 

Musk sell rockets to Bezos like,

They are taking precautions but if you look at this objectively, this Corona virus is not particularly deadly. Both MERS ands SARS I believe were both much more deadly... But harder to transmit. It's kind of the opposite here. The greater implications is just that if it's extremely contagious it could out a lot of people out of work which will hamper productivity and also probably lower spending.

The market was due for a correction anyway, this is a good excuse for people to realize their profits. I'm not overly concerned that like... 10% of the world's population is going to die off or something like back in WW1 Era.

I think that the mortality rate could be 10X that of the flu. And there is some concern over the lack of knowledge of how/if it can be treated.

 

But, it would seem it's definitely going to shave earnings, maybe by a lot.

 

And yes, wash your hands and above all....NO PICK!

I think we’re a long way from cancellation. A first step would be to relocate. A second step would be to play with no spectators. TV only.

But in any case don’t fall for the panic the media is all too willing to sell.

Take all reasonable precautions but San Francisco declaring a state of emergency at this point is over the top. Have they canceled all sporting events, concerts, theaters, festivals?

Something just does add up... 2-3ish reported fatality rate doesn’t equal closing of pretty much all China and all of these other precautions. So people have to think what they aren’t being told??‍♂️
