Exactly. Not to mention this wasn't his first time being accused of cheating. He is the way he is and he likely won't change. Once this all blows over and people are dissecting his every move, he'll go back to his old ways. He shouldn't be allowed on tour with this kind of crap.

He was accused of cheating while on tour prior to this? Has he been "looked at" by the tour?" Other incidents? Suspensions? Anything?

 

Events prior to his status on tour have no relevance to him being allowed/not being allowed on tour.

Kostis accused him of it on national TV 3 years ago. So the answer to your first question is yes. Whether he’s been “looked at” by the PGA Tour is not public knowledge I suppose.

Kostis couldnt fathom him hitting a 3 wood from the rough because hes a dinosaur. he claimed that reed put down 3-4 different irons behind the ball in the rough and then ultimately pulled the 3 wood. he didnt have the stones to go to a rules official or even confront reed. Reed went on to win and that shot was irrelevant. Kostis claimed that reed could only hit a sand wedge out of that lie. pure hyperbolic BS. he was debating 3-4-5 iron. One of the many reasons kostis and Mccord dont work for CBS anymore

Heres the video. he needed a 200+ yard shot to cover the bunker so he took a huge chop down slice swing with a wood which is the easiest shot from the rough for a tour player. he was laying up.the tone kostis used was ridiculous.I can chop down my 3 or 5 wood out of that rough all day. it simply wont go that far. you can get anywhere from 185-215 carry which helps on long par 5s. " i dont why hes doing this" says the moron who never played pro golf. he wants a short iron in his hand from the proper angle genius.

Bubba watson "improves his lie" before every shot out of the rough yet no lynch mob. Couples used to do this all the time. more than Half the tour would be banned if we started looking at these things

The "but everyone does it" excuse didn't cut it for my 13 year old 8 years ago. Why should it work for a PGA tour pro. It's exactly that "everyone does it" rationale that has eroded the standards of the gentleman's game.

 

If it is too difficult to enforce because "everyone does it", maybe they should just find a way to legislate it out so we can stop calling golf a gentleman's game.

Moving forward the governing bodies or even the tours should come out with a clarification during those seminars players are required to attend about this type of situation and how it will be enforced.

Ive posted several times that close up camera work exposes what has always been there. This idea that nobody improves their lie , fudges their ball mark or that everybody calls penalties on themselves is just nonsense. It’s never been true. We can just see it now.

Again I'm saying if it is too difficult and near impossible to check on whether the lie is improved or not then there should be a rule change.

 

Bubba looked like his lie improved and should ve cited but I'm sure there is also someone out there who put a hybrid behind his ball in the rough, then changed his mind. Yet the lie was not improved. That is why there has to be some sort of clarification. The ruling bodies fixed the spike mark issue by allowing everything to be fixed.

 

Maybe the poster complaining about improving lies on tee shots needs a smiley at the end of his post.
