New Orleans trip advice

Our group voted to make New Orleans the site of our 2020 Golf Trip/Tournament - its in June (yeah I know not ideal but its when we go, weve done Florida, Vegas, Scottsdale, Texas etc this time of year so we know) - Im reading through some old threads and it seems pretty clear for 54 Holes - Bayou South, English Turn, TPC - Audobon gets nice reviews, but I know the group wont go for it being mostly par 3's as part of the tournament, might be a good option for those in the group who want a practice round on arrival day. This forum advice was helpful last year on our Chicago trip, so hoping to gain similar knowledge for 2020 NOLA.

Questions:

Fees - Seems when I look at most of these sites, they do not list their Golf Rates, but rather booking tee times is the only way to know the rates, which I wont be doing that depending on how far out you can book until later in the Spring - so in June what kind of rates should I expect for non LA residents that time of year? We would be Fri-Sat-Sun - group does not mind playing a twilight round as one of them to shave some cost. If all 3 maybe takes us out of budget - which of the 3 would you drop and what might you replace it with? Lakewood (seems close and website looks good but reviews somewhat negative recently) - We generally dont drive, we Uber, we find it about the same price as a rental car(s) when you include parking at many hotels each day, gas, etc. Plus this way nobody has to worry about being responsible to drive. We will likely be staying near French QuarterAny other tips/advice would be appreciated

Audubon is a short course with 12 par 3's 4 par 4's and 2 par 5's. That said it is always a lot of fun to play because you will hit pretty much every club in your bag and the setting in the park is great. If you want to shave some cost and just have fun, give Audubon another look. Other than that, you have the right idea with the 3 courses you have mentioned. Lakewood is a good layout but you just don't know what you'll get condition wise.

Bayou oaks is way overpriced and I would avoid it. Boring layout, no practice area/driving range and did I mention way overpriced?

 

English Turn/TPC and Lakewood would be my suggestion. All play differently offering multiple tee yardages. Price wise, I believe all will be around $80-$120. Could be wrong.

 

my ranking would be:ET, TPC then Lakewood.

Thanks for the feedback guys - in reading someones recent posts about experience at Lakewood, seems like drainage is an issue, so would that be a factor? Heavy rains in the days and weeks leading into our trip, perhaps avoid?

Thanks for the feedback I think it will be a good practice round option, we do a points system ("tweaked" modified system) and we use handicaps, one this is that we have never used the system on a course with so many par 3's and I dont even know how the handicap system work, its one thing for a really difficult like 230 yard par 3 to be one where some players get 2 strokes, but with so many par 3's, I could see some ordinary par 3's being 2 strokers, and I just am unsure how a par 62 would work with what we do, but it does sound like a great golf course, I am planning on setting up the practice round there on arrival day for those who typically do that.

@Parrotheadgolfer I am going to NOLA in a couple weeks and considering the same three courses you mentioned....TPC, English Turn, and Bayou Oaks South. Are those still the ones you are looking at or has something changed your mind recently?
