Dunlop Linear Force-first ever set

Tommy Arm 845's

Titleist DCI's

Taylor Made Super Steel

Callaway x-16

Ping G10's

Adams XTD Forged

Mizuno JPX 900 Forged (current gammers) I also have a set of PING G410's that I tested for another site. They find their way into my bag every now and then.

As you can see, I am not loyal to any brand. Currently I have my eye on Callaway Apex 19 Forged/pro or Mizuno MP20's.

Since I started golfing in 2000 in Chronological order

Half set of Fazer clubs (Ping Eye 2 Clones..traded them away for my next set)

Wilson Staff FG-17s (yeah I believed in idea that blades will make you a better player quicker..stupid me..still have them)

Wilson Staff 1971 Button Backs (ditto....hit them much better now..still have them)

1988 Tommy Armour 845s (Stupid me. sold them in the mid 2000s so I can get a set of..)

2002 Tommy Armour Oversize Plus (The only set I bought new from an online dealer when it was discontinued..still have them)

Maxfli Revolution Blacks (Played them for quite a few years (still have them) until I came across my next set at a price I couldn't resist)

1988 Tommy Armour 845s (It was like coming home again, not gonna let them go this time)

1997 Callaway Bertha Golds (Bought it for my girlfriend as a set but I still have it since her place doesn't have the space to keep it. )

Titleist 990s (Had a lot better feel than the 845s especially as my swing got better and my scores got lower then one day after browsing on Craigslist I came across this)

1999 Hogan Apex Blades (Paid $80 CDN for a 2-E set from a former staff player that he used for a few rounds until he bolted to Titleist...been stored in his basement since. They're now my gamers)

10.5 deg Titleist 905R with stock UST Proforce V2 Shaft (Stiff flex)
Titleist 990 (3-PW) with stock Dynamic Gold in S300
Taylormade V-Steel 5W & 3W with Grafalloy Prolaunch Red shafts (Regular Flex)
2011 Adams Tom Watson signature wedges in 52 and 56 degrees with stock steel shafts (Player's Grind)
Rife Island Series Aruba Blade Putter

"Loft for loft, length for length, and shaft for shaft, the ball will go the same distance when hit on the sweet spot regardless how old the iron."

Nike Vapor Speed (5-sw) - still own these as a spare set and love them. Nike Vapor Fly Pro (4-pw) - sold them after a month when I saw the paint came off so easy. Nike Vapor Pro Combo (4-pw) - nice and soft, but the shafts (x100) were too heavy for me. Srixon Z565 (4-pw) - my current set which I love. The forged heads are almost as soft as the Vapor Pro Combo’s.

The list is way too long over the past 34 years of playing and with searching for the panacea. I would bet I have owned at least 50 sets of irons, maybe more. I have owned iron sets from:

Ben Hogan Golf (Radials, 1988 Apex blades, 1992 Apex blade, Edge CB)

MacGregor (1983 Muirfield blades x2, 1987 Muirfield 20th blades x2, 1990 VIP remakes x 2, 1992 CB92)

Titleist (962, 962B, 990 CBs, 716 AP2s)

Ram (1980s Tour Grind, 1992 FX2)

Mizuno (MP14, MP29, MP30, MP32, MP59, JPX900 Tour)

Cleveland Classics (588 blades, 588 cb)

Maruman (Curtis Stange model)

Tommy Armour Golf (PGA)

Wilson (Fluid Feel blades, FG17)

Ping (Eye2, i3 Blades x 3, i3 O Blades)

Lynx (Paralax)

Maxfli (Austrailian Blade)

Callaway (X14 Pro, X16 Pro, X Tour - first version)

Arnold Palmer (Peerless blades)

Taylormade (1987 Tour Preferred blades)

Spaulding (1999 Ben Hogan Apex blades x 3)

There's a handful of component company irons I tried (Dynacraft, Golfsmith, Golfworks, Austad's, and a couple more). I'd say 6-7 sets here. In total I am over 50 but less than 55.

Assorted kids sets and/or hand-me-downs until age 11-12 or so. "Real" sets after that

Ping i3 blades (00-04)Mizuno MP-32 (04-09, off and on since)Titleist AP2 (2008) (09-17)Srixon Z765/545 combo (2017 for approximately 3 months)Mizuno JPX 900 Tour (2017-current)No immediate plans to change, but may think about it after this year or next. Lots of recent irons look great, but nothing wrong with the 900s.

Started playing in 1967 with my Dads cut down Cary Middlecoff irons. I got the even numbers, a sister got the odd numbers. Since then...

First Flight Golden Eagle

Wilson Patty Berg

Burke PGA

Hogan Apex

Confidence

WS FG 17 Tour Blades

Hogan Medallions

Dunlop Maxfli Australian Blades (1-pow)

Ping Eye 2 BCu

Mizzy MP 29, MP 32, MP33, MP 62, MP15

Bridgestone J35, J36, J40 CB

Titliest 690 MB, Original AP2, 716 CB

PXG 0311T, 0211

of these, The FG17’s, The Maxfli Austrialian Blades and the Ping S55’s had by far the longest run as my Gamers. More than a decade for the Wilsons and Maxiflis, the S55’s may get there yet. Most of the rest were a season or two at best. 28 sets in 53 years of playing. 25 years of that are 3 sets.
