Matthew Fitzpatrick's custom Bettinardi putter - 2020 API

The Bettinardi PGA Tour Rep has been working with Matt for a long time and a number of great looking putters with their various face milling. This is what it took to get him into one of their putters.

Why yes I did know what I was doing but if you look at every putter I've ever shot, the face on photo is always the 1st one. So really nothing out of the ordinary in how this one was photographed!

Yes he has, and MF has put them in play for periods of time. He knows what he likes and Bettinardi made what he wanted.

Looks slightly different to his original. Cavity is a different shape and the topline looks thicker. I know this because I refinished his original plus a couple of back up putters recently. Bettinardi have been trying for ages to get one right for him. The patent for the grooves has run out so anyone can use that milling.

To be honest the bettinardi will be a fully milled head compared to the yes which was cast with a milled face.

I'm not a metal guy but maybe the difference in the look is the Yes is cast and the Bettinardi is forged??

YES! was a good putter back in the day. People still look for them. Not surprised that maybe he wanted something similar to it and Bettinardi was able to deliver.

The grooves are thicker on the Bettinardi. I'd love to feel that pattern on top of the usual honeycomb pattern like on the FIT Face models. Bring this to retail, Bettinardi!

Would be interested to see if this picks up some steam with other players. I used to play a Yes putter and now use a Bettinardi studio stock. When I first started using the studio stock it reminded me of the feel I had with the C-groove putters.

I think it's cool. I'm kinda curious on how it will feel with the grooves being opposite of the Yes putter. But Bettinardi does great work for Tour players so must be a good putter.

Allegedly the groove direction was the science behind imparting the top spin that made Yes C-Grooves work in the first place. Would be very interested to know if the Bettinardi grooves were milled differently than the Yes C-Groove

Didnt the founder of Yes move on to Rife and then on to Evnroll? The Bettinardi version looks far better though.

Harold Swash founded Yes!. He died in 2016. Guerin Rife is the guy behind Rife and Evnroll.

Pretty sure Fitzy used this putter last year at some point, or something very similar, as in a Bettinardi

He hosted an Under Armour golf day at my club recently.

A member approached him saying he had a Yes! Tracy II putter he no longer used.

Matt offered him £80 for it which was accepted. He said he buys them when he sees them and gets them refurbished to use as backups.

Yes! putters were still quite popular when they went under. If the patent is expired then it's just sitting there waiting for some company to pick up. Good for Bettinardi.
