I loved the Rapture, even had the Ti 3w, but the first part of your statement is not true. The Rapture came out in 2006. Callaway had the ERC Fusion in 2004 and the FT3 in 2005. Even Cobra had the 414 and 454 Comp in 2005. Even Cleveland's Launcher 460 Comp was introduced in 2006.

yes, the turbulators are arguably functional on the driver (but really mostly for higher swing speeds) and serve no functional purpose on the fairways and hybrids. They are purely for cosmetic/alignment. It seems kind of against what ping hold themselves out as = sometimes funky or non-traditional shaping but for performance and functional reasons. Turbulators on fairways/hybrids are just funky non-traditional shaping for no reason.

I personally like the tubulators . Or at least am used to them. Makes a great frame for the ball.

I had a G30 driver for a seson or 2 and got used to the turbulators. I just think a smooth crown with the matt black finish looks so much better.

all we should care about is Stability and a Face that is hot at the edges as the centre

Ping has Nailed the last few releases and I suspect they will again this time

Exactly, Ping always makes great stuff that keeps up with the Joneses, but they are always last to move on market trends. They wait to see what sticks before dipping their toe in the water. Let other companies hang their neck on the line first. Make sure it's not a flash in the pan trend before the commit. That said at this point I would imagine the Carbon crown trend isn't going anywhere and it's time for them to jump into that pool.

Yesterday, I just sold/shipped my Original Ping 9* Raptor to bg3putts in Alabama, it was a great club, I'm also waiting to see what Ping's new driver will look/perform like.

Does anyone have insight or a general idea of what the new driver tech will be? Last time was MWT. Before that was dragon fly tech. What’s it this time? I presume they won’t delve into carbon crowns still?

Didn't Wilson also have an all graphite wood line in the 1990s as well? I swear I heard that John Daly played it and it was a complete pile, sounded and looked like crap, broke a lot. Maybe I'm getting it confused with C4.

Daly first used a Kevlar Cobra before signing with Wilson.

I found that there was a huge difference between the G400 and the G410 fairways. The G400 launched way too high for me. I tried the G400 for literally one round, and it was just a terrible fit for me, and didn't come close to replacing the G30 that I had in the bag (which eventually got replaced by an M2 Tour). The G410 LST was a revelation, and gave me similar distance to the M2 Tour, but with way more forgiveness. It finally stopped me from trying new fairways all the time.
